You're new to TWTD aren't you? Mild criticism of anyone to the left of centre means you are a Fox TV watching, Reform voting neo nazi.

You're supposed to pretend that all is well with Biden then wonder why Trump wins the election.

Yeah.

Maybe I overreacted but I'm sick to the back teeth of situations to which you refer.

I really can't be done with it so I do my very best not to engage - but some of the absolute tripe that some nut jobs spout is unbelievable.

“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.” Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.

This is like Corbyn all over again, people will complain that the media is completely biased in its reporting. In reality, like Corbyn, Biden is hanging himself a little more every time he opens his mouth- but political dogma is keeping him in place.

Biden however, is a decent guy, and WAS a decent leader - but for the greater good (keeping out Trump), the democrats need to stop fking around and get rid of him.

I have heard a couple of American commentators say that the media had been complicit in keeping Biden's condition under wraps, including going along with the fact that he severely limits his media appearances to hide his state. They went on to say that there was now a bit of overcompensation given the public were actually ahead of the game

One of them pointed out that George Clooney had formed his judgment some time ago, and queried why he had taken so long to speak up.

This matter clearly has to be front and centre stage given the issues at stake.

As an aside, I wonder if the Biden plan was to keep things under wraps in order to get him elected, but with Biden standing down for Harris relatively early in his presidency because he surely can't believe he could last a full four years as president.

EDIT; one of the commentators talked about Biden lacking vigour, which is not what you want in a president.

I wasn’t aware he could only work 3-4 hours a day. If that’s right then he should be toast. If it’s the occasional muddling of names, that could be a more nuanced position. Not that the other guy is any better in that area. How the hell can these two be the best each party could come up with. It’s nuts.

I don't think that's the case. Not sure Trump worked as much as that though!

I can't vouch for this but this is what I posted a couple of weeks ago.

"If true, this is an interesting snippet from Axios, a left-leaning US media outlet.

"Biden's miscues and limitations are more familiar inside the White House.

The time of day is important as to which of the two Bidens will appear.

From 10am to 4pm, Biden is dependably engaged — and many of his public events in front of cameras are held within those hours.

Outside of that time range or while traveling abroad, Biden is more likely to have verbal miscues and become fatigued, aides told Axios."

EDIT: this brings to mind this possible joke scenario.

"Wake up, wake up, Mr President. It's 6pm. and Putin is just about to launch his nuclear arsenal."

How the US can only come up with these two old boys is a joke. Surely there is someone in their 40's or 50's who has a successful track record in business and politics to step up and run for the leadership?

That was separately in the press conference wasn't it? But yeah, agreed that's not a good sign either. Both of them obviously have issues with recall, so likely both have dementia to some degree. Fk knows why neither party are taking this seriously (well, I probably do know why as it's all about winning the election rather than doing what's best for their country).

Not saying he is fit for President but to equate getting names wrong with dementia is way ott. He is simply showing signs of age related cognitive decline as is Trump

It's called sundowning, the same has been levelled at Trump. It's a facet of dementia.

Dementia is a horrible debilitating illness diagnosed by health care professionals after in person assessment. Not a load of people on a football forum on a different continent.
I think we should be more circumspect with such labelling

There's certainly no evidence that Biden suffers from this, taken from the Alzheimer's Society website description of sundowning.

"Sometimes you might see changes in the person’s behaviour in the later afternoon or towards the end of the day. During this time the person may become intensely distressed, agitated and have hallucinations or delusions. This may continue into the night, making it hard for them to get enough sleep."
