Although I very much like our transfer window so far 19:07 - Jul 12 with 1999 viewsghostofescobar

I would like to see a player or two with a bit of full on Prem experience. A Ross Barkley type figure (yes, I know he didn’t help them stay up). I would caveat this by stating in KM and MA we trust etc etc. Maybe just that one experienced head in there might make a difference. I have only coached at youth level, so I may well be talking out of my @rse……..

I think that is a sentiment a lot of us would agree with.

Not the bit about you talking out of your rear end but the bit about a little smidgen of genuine Prem quality.

The problem is that for the kind of money we can pay, we are looking a has been, player on the way down, trouble being unloaded, pension seekers, a risk. If you can find a quality player like a Wark that will truly add value to the team and the club at that level, great. But they’re rare.

Just mentioned it in another thread. I completely agree - you are talking out of your @rse

(More seriously, you’re feeling exactly how I am. One or two that have been there and done it would make me feel a bit more confident).

A sensible been there and done it head or 2. Sone type figure wouldn't go amiss for me

Not necessarily. A fringe player with experience who’s found themselves down the pecking order or someone in a yoyo club that’s been relegated could help. Look at Hermann last time we went up. He wasn’t a PL star previously, but he certainly strengthened us.

Cresswell
Webster
Kaminski

Cresswell would be ok if we were still in Championship but not in the Prem
Webster would be ok but a bit pricey and not in position we need to strengthen
Kaminsky - yep

Cresswell played 11 Prem games last season. He’d be an excellent addition on and off the pitch. We need cover for Leif and he can also play left of a 3 if needed.

Can safely say, having watched him for the Hammers last season. He, sadly, wouldn't be good cover...his legs are gone.

There's no way he can do what Davis does now.

I'll tell you what...Cresser is a player KM absolutely would have had back in the day though.

"player or two" - Goalkeeper and No.9; if we manage to get players in those key positions who have good Prem experience, I think we'll thrive next season.

Feel exactly the same. Still need a keeper and a CM, so hoping these might be the positions they target those type of players. Barkley would’ve been a terrific signing IMO, imagine him working in tandem with Morsy, a nice blend of two different skill-sets.

I think we have the Premier experience exactly where we need it currently....

That is of course right at the top! Our brilliant young manager knows exactly what we need( to coign a phrase!) and has coached extensively at Premier League clubs
Don't underestimate this.

While I think having experience is important, to have a player with huge prem experience will cost a lot of money. Your Barkley point is the perfect example of a player with some experience, but Luton were relegated. Plus as soon as they are relegated he runs off.

I know you will never win anything with just young players and no experience- we'll I think someone did say that once.

For me experience at any level is the important thing. We have a squad of players who got us over the line in L1 under enormous pressure and did the same last season under even greater pressure. I would argue that experience will he better for them than players who have played a few games over a couple of seasons in the Prem.

I can see such signings occurring in a few weeks once premier league teams have players back from the Euros and have recruited themselves. There will be a number of deals pending players returning fit. Then expect them.

Right now, we're doing very good business in the market that is available.

You are correct in my opinion. Some that have been there and know what it is all about. Just a couple of experienced heads would be great. Johnson will be massive for us, so a few more like him and we are good to go. We have the skill up top now, so a couple of experienced heads in MF would be fantastic.
