Ipswich are haggling over a deal for Blackburn Rovers
striker Sammie Szmodics - and are bizarrely just
£500,000 apart.
The clubs have been debating the guaranteed sum
starting point and Ipswich are at £8.5 million but won't
budge to the £9 million demanded.
The package for Szmodics includes extras for goals
bonuses, a survival bonus and even a promotion bonus
if Ipswich go down and then come back up in 2025-26.
However the negotiators cannot sort out the first sum

This is spot on.
If any of this is true, I’m amazed at how many people are happy to see us mugged off by Blackburn’s owners or blame ITFC for not getting it done at any price. If B’burn want to p£ss around, leave it and they can explain to the player why his chance of the PL at 29 and a fat pay rise has gone down the drain.
There’s no guarantee Szmodics can play PL anyway. Who can forget Sam Parkin. Goal machine at Swindon in L1, carthorse in the Championship for us. He couldn’t step up and couldn’t hit a cows @rse with a banjo. Can SS? £8-£10m is an expensive way to find out.
