I'd swap Taylor in for Luongo, otherwise would go exactly the same.
Harness and Taylor give us maximum mobility/stamina in there and Johnson playing that bit deeper than Burns would. It's not really a fixed 'three at the back' formation as much as a little extra emphasis on defence - and closing down in midfield - for a very tough opening game. I can see it as a 5-3-1-1 if we're under intense pressure, with Harness dropping in to help out Morsy and Taylor, Delap occupying their centre-backs and Hutch going mobile as an out-ball which could worry Liverpool on the break. | |

Against Liverpool and Man City I'd go this. Johnson was putting in some good crosses v Nice but also helped the defensive side of things when we weren't in possession. | |

Pretty sure we will go 3 at the back so a 3421 out of possession and 3241 when on the front foot with another 10 in game formations thrown in with Mckenna tweaks.
Your point regarding Taylor is a valid one and can see Harness and Burns becoming the 60 minute game changers this season as there will be at least another 2 starters in the door over the coming weeks. | | | |
