I thought he was alright to be fair. Pretty consistent in his decision making and Omari’s aside I thought his yellows were about right. Burns was lucky to not get a 2nd for a clear deliberate handball from where I was sat.

Hutchinson went flying in & didn't get the ball. Probably the most blatant of Town's 3 yellows. Woolfenden did pull a player back, which is supposed to be an automatic yellow. Burns's was harsh, which might have played a part in his decision not to give him a second yellow for cynical handball. |  |

Thought he was poor. Definitely was looking to stop the enthusiasm of the new boys to the circus, hence three yellows on our guys for first offences. Then proceeded to obstruct our attack in a central position. Let them gain miles on throw ins. Took him more than 90 minutes to book one of theirs. |  |

I’ve not seen a replay of it admittedly, but I thought Omari was in control, seemed to lead with his right foot and win the ball to me. I didn’t think it was out of control or particularly over zealous but would like to see it again. | | | |

That's how I saw it and just before the first yellow you could see the ref warning Morsy about what he saw as persistent fouling by several players. It continued and the yellows came out. Hutchinson was late and mistimed.
Slot suggested we were aggressive but in a good way which was about right. |  | | |

Mostly agree. Thought Woolfy's was a bit harsh. Yes probably a yellow but 4 minutes in on his Premier League debut in a white hot atmosphere. The ref should perhaps given him a stern warning so early on in the game. |  | | |

The issue is that persistent fouling was fine if you were called Diaz, but 2 fouls warranted a warning for Morsy. | | | |

Burns’s handball was right in front of me. Definitely got away with that and a second yellow. No idea what he was thinking.
My gripe with the ref is that he spoke to Morsy about our persistent fouling early on and then booked someone (can’t remember exactly who) next foul. That’s fair enough. But a couple of Liverpool players had been persistently fouling too as the game went on and he did nothing until late on.

Yup I agree , those of us who have watched Sky sports over the years will have noted the big club bias in previous seasons and its something we will have to contend with I'm afraid . Not that the Ref had a bad game but a couple of inconsistent bookings spoilt his performance. |  | | |

I was talking to Chris Kiwomya after the game and he said he was one of the referee assessment people for the PL today. He is a very fair assessor and very insightful.
From being in the stand as fan to speaking to a pro with balance was good.

Ref was pretty good.
Gave us plenty of clear fouls. Our bookings were all bookings really but the only thing I feel he missed was Liverpool had players who consistently fouled and should have been warned / booked.
He made both teams move the ball back a few yards, both take throws from the right place. Didn’t see any bias really. Just that he gives a yellow for a yellow but not a yellow for persistent fouls. | | | |
