I’ll be meeting a couple of chums in London on Tuesday and the minimum price will be well over £6.00. Ouch! But yes, I notice that £5.50 went to £6.05 or something similar. A 10% rise over three months seemed a lot. Premier League, I suppose. Still had a beer and enjoyed it and tbf the queuing process and service in the tent was good.

its a decent enough beer, I suspect over gassed though, since they wont have bothered setting it up right. I didnt quite get the new "draught beer" thing Ashton announced, since theyve been selling draught beer at the ground for some years now, but I guess they meant that, "a new draught beer", not "new, draught beer". £6.20 though, Premier league, and there are lots of pubs in town that charge that much for keg "craft" beer and pretend spanish lager. and the best thing as a consumer you can do if you object to the price is not buy it.

That's weird, I live in London and don't pay over £6 anywhere I go. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I wouldn't go to wetherspoons, I don't want to give that till of an owner any of my money. I drink nice beers at various bars and tap rooms, but can't remember when I paid over £6.

I can. £7.00 near Fulham’s ground last Weds. meeting chums at a sports bar near Victoria on Tuesday - last Feb three beers = £19 and they even served the beer short. Grrr. On the upside, the Cross Keys in Endell St Seven Dials is £5,50 a pint. Lovely pub, old style a bit off the beaten tourist trap Working in Westminster I got to visit all the pubs around there. The Two Chairmen was a fave https://www.pint-prices.com/pub/39%20Dartmouth%20Street,%20SW1H%209BP/Two%20Chai The Barrow Boy at London Bridge the other week £6 for London Pride. I think what it comes down to is that anything vaguely touristy you get price-scalped. Off the beaten track - far better. Locally in Kent - £5 is more the average. The trouble is, I like a beer!

If 'Spoons can sell a beer at £2.30 and make a profit those who are charging £6 plus are just gready. Go some where else. If your pint is all froth or short you have the right to ask them to top it up. Unless you do that they will continue to rip you off.
Portman road beer on 19:29 - Aug 18 with 4219 views | cooperd5 | I drink San Miguel at my local (£5.65!) but it was always over gassy at PR and I prefer the Flint Eye I had yesterday in the fan zone
Portman road beer on 19:45 - Aug 18 with 4119 views | Hipsterectomy | Doubt it's due to the amount of fans as we had similar last season, but the south stand catering was at a snail's pace. The players were out for the second half and people who got in straight after the whistle blew were still 4 or 5 people from the front of the queue. I did notice there seemed to be some self service machines (non functioning, they all had black screens) with what looked like card readers. I wonder if in future we will be able to place orders and collect? I also think we miss a trick by closing every single concourse kiosk after the game. I think Arsenal and other clubs leave some open and sell cheap beer, and due to congestion, people are happy to stay with their mates anyway. [Post edited 18 Aug 2024 19:47]

The bar i went to at half time was tortuous. South end, top tier of the Co-Op stand. I got there pretty sharpish, was heading down the steps to it when half time whistle went and there were three people in front of me. I got served 10 minutes later. It wasn't the fault of the single lady who was manning that half of the bar - though she was appalling at multi tasking and had to wait a full 2 minutes for something to happen with a pie before serving the second person - but it was woefully understaffed and managed.

You are right of course, but when you are with mates/out it isn’t quite as simple as that. Anyhow, for tomorrow’s meet up I might nudge my chums towards a pub near Victoria Coach Station that used to be a tad more reasonable and nicer.
Portman road beer on 09:45 - Aug 19 with 3130 views | Sarge | Has that flint eye bilge replaced San Miguel in the concourses as well or just the fanzone? If the former then I think it’s an alcohol-free season ahead for me, probably a good job too if they’re charging £6+.

Plenty of pubs & restaurants in town who would benefit from the uplift. You'll tend to get a better pint for less money too.

"If 'Spoons can sell a beer at £2.30 and make a profit those who are charging £6 plus are just gready. Go some where else." That's just not true. Not all pubs can buy their beer at the same price. Not all pubs pay their staff the same. Not all pubs pay the same rent. Not all pubs get the same foot fall of customers. [Post edited 19 Aug 2024 11:10]

Pubs owned by Stonegate have to pay rents that can run to £1000's a week. Then they have to pay more to buy their beer again off Stonegate sometimes at £150 a barrel of 72 pints. As you say not all are equal. But around me these pubs are not doing well. People vote with thier feet. They go elsewhere and pay £3.80. Cheers and COYB

Fair play to Mark for being open to the idea but I believe GK have rights for another season (maybe longer following the promotions).
