We still want O’Shea from Burnley 12:09 - Aug 19 with 11873 viewsSitfcB

According to Nixon.

Ipswich want to sign Burley's tough centre half Dara
O'Shea in a £10 million deal.

The Tractor Boys are focusing on a move for O'Shea
after signing keeper Aro Muric and missing out to
Tottenham on Wilson Odobert.

The Premier League new boys now want an answer on
O'Shea with Brentford also keen on the Republic of
Ireland defender.

O'Shea may wait to see if any other clubs comes in
before committing but that would risk Ipswich going
elsewhere.

Burnley also need a resolution as they could have to
find a replacement. Free agent John Egan is currently
training with him after leaving Sheffield United.

Players being written off after one game against one of the world’s best teams is kinda wild.

Was that his debut?

As far as I'm aware.

Cheers. Just had to check - same age as O'Shea. Assume Sheffield United will want similar in terms of fee.

From us!

I imagine this'll be agent or club-fed to try and create a bidding war.

I do feel like Wolves have to be one of the teams we try to reel in and overtake this year. It feels like they've regressed season-on-season for the last few years now.

Got to say it is pretty hard to get excited about a centre back that played in a team who conceded 104 goals last season.

It's those kind of decisions which will be the difference between going down without a whimper and giving it a right good go.

My fear with Woolfie is that he'll look alright at this level for 85 mins but there'll be a 5-min period or even less where he's exposed and punished. Greaves looked capable of sticking to the task for a full 95 mins. I'm assuming Kieran thinks O'Shea would carry the same focus/intensity if we're still pursuing.

Can't see why you get marked down. You have an opinion which you are entitled to. It seems to me that some on this forum seem to think only their opinion counts. I said last season Woolfenden wasn't good enough. So if he's a liability in the Championship then not much chance in the Prem. But them Davis has looked vulnerable. But he contributes greatly to us going forward. That's why I think Kieran wants a more robust midfield who can sit when we are under attack. I don't see either Morsy or Loungo in midfield in a couple of seasons time. I'm afraid that football has no time for sentiment and as much as we are/were grateful to many of the players contributing to the rise from Division One to the Premier League if Town want to remain in this Division then upgrades need to be sourced.

"I think the fans are pretty good, if any of our squad are not good enough, we will still support them and will know they are giving everything to be as good as they can, and we will support them."

I guess so. And every fanbase has a minority who go against this.

Every club has got them, fuk 'em though, most of our fans are pretty smart and switched on.

Yet he was anything but a liability last year. He was a key component in a surprising promotion campaign.

I get that. But some are basing their opinions on his overall performances aren't they.

Now I'm not going to say he's not good enough. I didn't see Burgess doing it in the championship and he was a bug part of why we got promoted. So I won't say wolfy isn't good enough.

But KM is clearly looking for a new RCB and I doubt those being linked are with a view to being back up to wolfy.

He has his strengths does wolfy. But I'd say he is limited with his mobility, long range passing isn't shall I say ping city and he has that knack of losing concentration. Now he may improve in those aspects. However I can understand after watching Greaves why KM may be looking for a new RCB. He has everything that fella.

I was surprised we didn't go for a prem experienced cb.. but didn't expect Greaves to take to it so well.

As disappointed as I would be if Woolfenden is pushed to one side, as I think he is someone with real potential to make an impact in the Premier League, I suppose I have to agree seems like McKenna is seeking a replacement.

I am interested to see if we look to move a centre back on - Woolfenden, Edmundson or Burgess - or if McKenna wants six in the squad.

I think it's a given that Edmundson moves on in the next fortnight.

As much as I have reservations over Woolfie, I love the bones of the guy and would love nothing more than to see him become a reliable squad player at the very least at this level.

I guess I get overly defensive (no pun intended) because he seems to be put at a higher standard than the rest by some on the forum. If he had been in Davis' position on Saturday there would be thread after thread on here declaring he's not good enough and needs to be moved on etc. I'm not saying that should happen for Davis, but feel there's a double standard where many of here - not for a moment saying you specifically - have something against Woolfenden and cannot wait for him to err.

But, as I indicated at the start of the post, perhaps I am being hypersensitive.

General consensus from Hull fans that Greaves is a better player then Mguire when they sold him.
