Exclusive/ There is no problem regarding the transfer of Armando Broja to Ipswich. The big delay in the officialization came because of some small details that are still being worked on. The passage is closed, the formalization will most likely come tomorrow

If Broja on 22:47 - Aug 23 with 4353 views | Denny32 | Doesn't mean he failed a medical and unable to play ..its just the club covering itself so as to draw up something legally with stipulations to say if he gets knackered 3 quarter way tru season and we still stay up...we not obliged to buy him so ..as that what's Chelski wants ...it needs something to say if at end of season he has failed a medical..we do not part with the old spondulacks..end of

That's very helpful, thanks, but you forgot the extremely localised weather forecast at the the end: It's cloudy on Dr. Eca VII. One presumes that it was Dr. Eca, the seventh in a long line of esteemed doctors, who did the medical?

He's only 22 & has missed a whole year with an acl injury after a very impressive loan period, in the Premier League, with Southampton. He also did well in the Dutch Eredivisie. The 4 month loan at Fulham, coming back from the injury, was the first real 'flop' period he has had, & part of that was down to their other striker, Muniz, hitting a real streak of form, scoring 9 PL goals from that February, which kept Broja on the bench & lacking in a run of any kind. If he is over that injury, gets back up to full fitness, under McKenna's coaching & man management, he can be an exceptional player for us. The last 24 hours, however, have raised concerns as to his prospective fitness.

Averaged just under 1 in 6 for Southampton in that “successful” spell. Strike rate for Chelsea non existent. Didn’t score at Fulham. Appreciate he’s young and has a dodgy knee, but this is one I’d rather fell through.

Hirst has averaged the same in his career and had as many injuries. Don’t think anyone is questioning his contribution to the team.

If he is not fully fit and going to take a while to get up to speed then yes I would rather we moved on to another target, however I don't think it is fair to judge him solely on his goal record. It is quite clear that the role the number 9 has within our system is about more than just goals, I assume using your logic you don't rate Hirst or Delap either then?

Might I propose the rebuilding of the Drum & Monkey on its original site, in its precise original form right down to the nasty 1960s aluminium window frames, but renamed The Duke of Punuar? In juxtaposition with the magnificent new Sir Kieran McKenna East Stand and the (admittedly idiotically under-length) Aquatic Centre this would make an aesthetically interesting pastiche of the football club's place in the history of the town. I would expect a lovely lesbian couple called Vanessa and Jane to run it as a fan-friendly and harmonious football establishment, open to amicable Home and Away firms and serving, as their speciality, draught Kalimi brewed on site.

Fair enough, but have you seen how he plays? It's the very style of centre forward that McKenna wants in his team, which allows for the 3 behind to blossom & score at least as many as he himself scores. Hirst didn't have a stellar scoring record before coming to us, but score fairly consistantly he has done since, and even more importantly Chaplin, Broadhead & Burns all benefitted massively from his presence, power, pace, hold up, lay offs & general intelligent play. I believe, as clearly McKenna does, that a fully fit Broja can do the same, at a higher level, with Hutchinson, Szmodics, Clarke, and the other 3 behind him. An Nketiah type striker might bring more individual goals over the course of a season, but in our set up, the overall loss in the number of team goals scored, plus the loss in terms of ball retention when used as an outlet for relieving pressure, would be massive. Also, I would say that 6 goals for a 19 year old, in the Premier League, while playing for one of the 'unfancied' sides, is a pretty successful loan spell.
