Muric’s mistakes today 21:24 - Aug 24 with 3377 views | ibbleobble | The penalty attempt was weak but it’s a pen so not much blame can really be put at his foot. The dwelling on the ball was bad and naive given how good Citeh’s high press is but the third is just terrible, rash goalkeeping. Such a stupid rush of blood against the most clinical finisher in the world it beggars belief and causes big question marks in game one. Last week Walton came out and bravely won the ball at the feet of Diaz when through. This week Muric was a mile away from getting anywhere near Haaland. A really concerning performance and after such a high profile move, it brought back memories of Sereni.
Muric’s mistakes today on 21:30 - Aug 24 with 3267 views | WicklowBlue | New keeper makes mistakes in first competitive game playing with new defence! Think we've seen that before haven't we? I said it earlier the 3rd goal was a great finish and Greaves (I think?) almost blocked it. The 2nd was a shocker but give him some time to get up to speed. Easy to say put a boot through it but equally did anyone drop to give him an out? I thought he was looking for Morsy a lot as that's how we play. You also have omitted that stunning save from the header. Could he have done better on the 4th, perhaps but it was right in the corner. Give the guy a break and let him settle in.
Muric’s mistakes today on 21:31 - Aug 24 with 3248 views | Swailsey | Walton had a terrible debut too - shipped 5 didn’t he? Not the same level of obvious mistakes, but it’s wise to not write people off after one game. Davis had a shocker of debut too.

Muric’s mistakes today on 21:34 - Aug 24 with 3180 views | bsw72 | I’d rather judge a new player after a number of games than just the one, especially against one of the best sides ever assembled in English club football. Each to their own though.

Nobody should be writing him off. We knew what we were getting with him to be honest, it is going to go from the sublime to the ridiculous. And we saw the ridiculous twice today.

Muric’s mistakes today on 22:03 - Aug 24 with 2900 views | Churchman | Another thread on the bloke? Still, after so long without somebody to hound and hate, Muric clearly fits the bill. Let’s face it, he’s replaced the much loved Hladky so he ticks all the right boxes. For those who know best (obviously not McKenna, Ashton, players etc) good luck with it. I hate to think what the damp undercrackers brigade would have made of Muhren’s home debut (battered by Liverpool). Couldn’t tackle, head, shoot, run. Weak. Utter waste of space, time and money Robson! Boooo! Get rid! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He had a bad couple of minutes, the rest of the match was pretty good. Baptism of fire, debut at City with new team mates.

God help us if we are taking players down this early in the season. The season will feel like a million small cuts with this level of dismissiveness. All our players will be making errors this year, higher level, less time, better opposition. The key is in how quickly they learn and improve. F it’s slowly we are dead in the water. If it’s quickly we have the chance we want.

Well some already have begun haven’t they. Muric is in the box seat. God help him if he makes another mistake. I agree with your post. Yes, it’s all about how quickly they will learn but also how resilient they are to the boot going in from some. It’s also about how quickly the new players integrate. With good management of KM and his coaches end of October? I really don’t know but it will take time..
Muric’s mistakes today on 22:41 - Aug 24 with 2578 views | vinceg | Tone was set from kickoff when ball was passed back and he scuffed his kick. Two howlers to gift their goals and a lot of poor kicking throughout the game. Couple of good saves in the second half and only Mr Tickle would’ve saved Haaland’s third. Not the first Town player to have a poor debut though, remember Taricco’s?? My Burnley pal says we’ve got a gem so let’s give him a fair crack of the whip

Get a grip fella, and stop with the pathetic bed wetting analogies. You’re very quick to winge at people when they offend you so have some balance. I’m not writing off Muric and it can have as many threads as people feel necessary. We can all forgive mistakes and I’m not overly concerned about the De Bruyne goal, Hladky made plenty of mistakes like this and had a magnificent season. It’s the third goal that’s concerning. Good finish aside, it should never have come to that. Maybe learn to deal with objective criticism game-on-gane. Muric was really poor today and cost us a respectable performance, it’s as simple as that.

“Taking players down”??? Calling out there obvious errors for discussion? Lot of sensitive soft lads on here. It’s not binary. He’ll have good games and bad games it doesn’t mean he’s a scape goat for the defeat or people want him out. He significantly contributed to our defeat and performance but it’s not all on him 🙄 [Post edited 25 Aug 2024 7:11]

Muric’s mistakes today on 07:05 - Aug 25 with 2003 views | franz_tyson | Not trying to white-wash this, but if Muric needed to get his most extreme f#ck-ups out of the way, then maybe this was the game. We would have lost whoever was in goal. We bought him to play out from the back and we need him to keep on doing it. Just need him to improve his decision making and execution.

Agree. I was comparing him to Walton with someone and asking the question whether the score would have been different if Walton had played. I’d have backed Walton to have a better go at the penalty for sure. Fairly sure Walton wouldn’t have made the howler for the second or third either. We’d have lost for sure but I don’t think we’d have lost so much momentum in the first half and could have been right in it til the latter stages. Maybe it was too early for Nuric after coming back from injury but Walton certainly should have pushed him hard for that place after his performance against Liverpool.
Muric’s mistakes today on 07:39 - Aug 25 with 1886 views | itfcsuth | Of course he made a mistake, there is no getting away from that - but something to learn from and improve, and if he does learn from it then it’s no problem. Every footballer makes mistakes, it’s about learning from them to be non-repeatable. I actually felt the only mistake from that perspective yesterday was replacing Walton, think he deserved to keep his spot yesterday.

My grip is perfectly adequate thank you. This has nothing whatever to do with being offended. I’m not. This is a message board and everyone is entitled to an opinion. Objective criticism? You started this thread in addition to others on Muric. You piled in and joined in the chorus. Fine. Your choice. Of course he made mistakes - that’s obvious but I don’t think it needed the doubling down that you and others gave his performance. He didn’t do it deliberately. Nor did it change the result (from what I’ve read - I’ll watch the whole game today). Of course he will need to improve, along with one or two others. I’ve only seen him once in a pre season and to me he looked a much better keeper than Hladky but time will tell. Until then, I believe a degree of patience is required towards him and the rest of the team, but patience appears to be sadly lacking in some. This is not happy clapping. It actually is all about balance.

we were 1 1 until his mistake for the 2nd and then suddenly were were 3 1 down when he misread the situation for the 3rd goal.. and some believe he should have done better for the 4th goal. I'm not sure on that myself tbh as Haaland hit it early and well placed. But he saved haalands header. I think he also got a hand on an earlier whipped in cross which if he hadn't most likely haaland would have got to despite greaves excellent tussling. Muric will wake up kicking himself. Time for the coaches to help him. But also our cbs need time spent on dropping deep and wide to make sure he's always got an outball. I feel greaves didn't come deep or wide enough for that 2nd goal. But it will come with training and game time.

I agree re the 4th goal. The third one - at least he made a decision. Albeit the wrong one. Mistakes though are ruthlessly punished, especially by teams like that. Individually and collectively we will improve and need to if we are to compete. I found the speed of the game last week a bit of a shock. There is no time on the pitch. If you lost the ball, it was a helluva job getting it back. Use it or lose it seemed to be the way of it. The gap between what we are used to and are facing is a chasm. You can see why we’ve brought in the number of players we have. Let’s hope they all integrate. Next Saturday will be the first true test. Fulham are clearly a good side, as they were last season, and we will get a much better measure of where we are.

I think the biggest difference is the anticipation of players, some of these prem players know what we are going to do before we've even thought of it. Like KM says we adapt for sure and probably these two games have been the best for us. We've had the Liverpool fast paced game. V the man city slow build up and possession based game. Mixed in with flying wingers and a haaland and salah. You can't really ask for better opponents to show you the level you're now playing.

It may come it may not there were warning signs in the friendlies which he got away with trouble is as a keeper you get punished maybe I'm old school but I was taught there is a time to play and a time to get rid it's whether Muric is going to adapt to that or people and players lose confidence in him. Got to do the simple things better.
