JEEZ. This forum tonight 23:38 - Aug 28 with 1879 views | FrimleyBlue | Coming from probably the most moaniest of moaners, I rather enjoyed the game tonight. Went into the game looking forward to seeing new players. Kinda what you do during pre season friendlies. No expectation about result regardless of level of oppo, it was all about minutes. I also took a different view tonight of not just focusing on where the ball was going but when the TV view allowd I just watched different players and their runs. Work rates and other stuff and it was really good. On the ball I wanted to see what made certain players different. Now cajuste and luongo.. very similar. One however is of course towards the end of their careers the other with plenty of time left.. similar players so that's a massive plus Phillips. He's like a chilled version of morsy. What's interesting is pep really has done a job of changing him from a dangerous passer into a safe passer. I think KM will get the best out of him. O shea. Really liked him. Think he will work well with greaves. I can see the additional quality on the ball compared to wolfy who's good enough himself but o shea was more snappy and zippy with his passes. Clarke. Well he's a taller hutchinson, what a player. Hadn't realised how quick footed he was but he was fun to watch. Now. Was it amazing football no. But it showed really promising signs. Our season isn't defined by the next month. In fact it's nit defined by October either. This will take a bit of time...but I think there's definitely alot of excitement to come with this team. Looking forward to Saturday. It'll be tough but I think we can get our first point on the board.

Lol. It does feel weird. But I actually enjoyed that game. I guess I was just able to watch it with 0 emotion to it and just enjoyed it for what it was.

Lot more rational and less provocative these days. Whether you’d admit it or not, you did used to go way over the top sometimes on purpose I’m sure. Not to say that you wasn’t also prodded and poked. Either way, keep at it. I like this version of you. Calm, measured and fair. Please don’t read it as a patronising comment as I don’t mean it like that at all.

Oddly enough, that’s how I felt with Liverpool and Manchester City. Tonight… very different.

This was the perfect fixture for our new stars to shine. If we play like this against any prem side this season we will lose every game. If we sit in the bottom 3 all season despite being one of the prem biggest spenders this summer then we will be in big trouble moving forward. Things have to improve pretty much immediately. Our league one and champ team would have beaten them tonight.
JEEZ. This forum tonight on 00:50 - Aug 29 with 1562 views | Ryorry | I was mostly listening rather than watching, so that's enlightening stuff, thank you. Disappointed not to go through, but I'd thought of it as more of a training game in the circumstances, maybe through blue-tinted glasses in a managing of expectations kind of way. Avoiding new injuries in competitive cup comps like that is part of the mitigation re managing my disappointment too though. Things could have been worse.

It's an interesting way of viewing it, firstly because lets take the game itself in which we drew, penalties are a lottery so I don't feel that needs digesting other than poor pens. But the game itself, a 2-2 draw, not brilliant in itself, but 2 set piece goals which last season Burgess had his head on to those balls on both occasions. Did he not know where O'shea was? was he nervous? rusty? we don't know why but they were bread and butter for Burgess and respectfully he bugered both up. The game itself however was a typical ipswich v lower league side, we had the possession, we had control, we could'nt really break them down. What I noticed was a severe lack of option uptop, as discussed briefly last night, Al Hamadi just didn't offer us anything up there, not is fault, he's coming back from injury and it showed, he looked really slow and at times it was like he couldn't run. But the football, you could see us trying to play the KM way, defence passing nicely through midfield, some nice triangles between Townsend, Clarke and Cajuste. The right was bizarre in that it looked dangerous inside the first 5 minutes, but after that I felt Ogbene didn't understand the requirements, which is understandable considering he only signed the day before. But you could see at times Chaplin wanted to send him on his way, but he was stood next to him. With his pace, he needs to be high and wide ala Burns. This possibly not helped by Johnson being high and perhaps caught Ogbene out, how can you go high when your FB is almost at your thighs. Your comment on play like that and we lose, difficult to say, we were't cut open, the only half chances of danger they had were caused by our own failings, Burgess who potentially could have seen red for example. Ogbene first half where he didn't deal with a couple of crosses. But the play and organisation for a side thrown together, it wasn't bad at all and bodes well tbh.
