Noticed nothing we done to remember Sven-Göran Eriksson on 10:28 - Sep 1 with 2983 views | blueasfook | It's usually mandated by the FA if it's something for all clubs to observe. I imagine there'll be something to honour him at the England game.

Looks as though it was an EFL mandated thing or clubs associated with him in the PL only.

Why? He never had anything to do with us. I don’t recall anything being done by the FA when SAR died. In fact, I don’t recall anything being done by Ipswich. I had an old WHU away scarf in a cupboard and took it down to PR and hung it up by the players entrance, nothing else was there. Look East called it “The lone tribute”.

Because he was England manager and, in the last decade or so, there seems to have been an increase in minute silence's/applause for people related to football.

Also he was England manager when Portman Road hosted its one and only England match. Not a massive deal maybe, but a link between him and a great day for our club, and also it kind of makes him a former 'home' manager at Portman Road.

I am with you on this. His clubs and national teams, of course. But that’s enough for me, much as I liked and admired Sven. Was there anything for Winterbottom in 2002, Terry Venables last November or Graham Taylor in 2017? And would there be anything if we lost Capello, Keegan or Hoddle? I genuinely don’t know.

No strictly true. England played Croatia at Portman Road when Wembley was being built. Might be wrong but feels like it was the Sven era.

He did sit on the Town bench alongside Sir Bobby on one occasion, in addition to the England international. Sven on Sir Bobby 16th Jun 2002 10:53England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has commented on former Town boss Bobby Robson receiving a knighthood. The Swede has known Sir Bobby since his days at Town when he made a number of visits to Ipswich to learn from the more established manager. 0

There was minute applause for Venables, again I'd assume EFL mandated, but even the Millwall fans joined in. But El Tel did win cups and leagues both as a manager and a player and an England international and manager, last England manager to win a trophy till the Women's recent successes. It's right that clubs Sven managed did something,or will do something I'm sure the England team will wear black armbands next match, but I'm not sure all of football would need to join in all the time.

Like I say, we can't do it for every ex player/manager. I guess Venables was English and gave us Euro'96. Sven was Swedish and had the best squads any England manager could wish for and achieved 1/4's. Not a reason not to honour him, but only reason I have.
