Man United build up - trawling their on-line fan shows 10:26 - Nov 19 with 8184 views | unstableblue | What a game in prospect we have on Sunday. Something about Man U visiting, they are a mega club. Such history. I was lucky enough to be there in 2000 when they arrived and Town’s amazing second season in the Premier League went turbo, with a wunder team move for the Wilnis goal, and an atmosphere to remember, on which Ferguson waxed lyrical. Beckham, et al, on the Portman Road pitch was something to behold. I’m expecting a huge home fan performance on Sunday, buoyed by the glory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Make it intimidating for their new manager. I’ve been watching lots of the very slick Man U fan television on YouTube, huge viewing figures. Amorim is the new dawn, the chosen one. They are hanging on every word… one key work is the ‘identity’ he will finally bring. They are conscious that he’ll only have had two days on the training pitch with the full team due to international break. But seem convinced he’ll go with the back 3 from the off. They are also seeing the return of Mainoo from injury, which is not confirmed, as key to their success at Ipswich. I think they are in for a wake up call at Town, our team is gelled now, injuries will have returned. Phillips, Greaves, Axel, back up Taylor. I think we get into them early, make the stands rabid, we have a real chance. BUT, Amorim is a man manager, and they have better quality. ding dong incoming. In McKenna we trust against his old employer - COYFB [Post edited 19 Nov 2024 13:55]

WOW - if you're not VERY fired up by McKenna's words tonight about Sunday... on 19:27 - Nov 19 with 1829 views | unstableblue | ... then perhaps give your ticket up to someone else!! This games feels like a culmination of all the work McKenna has been putting in... even more so than the Liverpool home game.. eyes of the world are going to be on us as he states. And, like our manager, I feel not only are the players going to be fired up and bring their A game... but I also feel like the town fans are going to reach a new level. COYFB

You cant predict a 3-1 score. I've already baggied that. Oh well, as it's you .... What about when we beat them 6-1? When we gave Gary Bailey (Roy's son) back ache through having to pick the ball out of his net so much. And not to mention the twice taken penalty miss. I said not to mention ..... If I am not mistaken that was the season they were relegated to the 2nd Division.

It was 6-0 and far from being relegated they finished runners-up that season behind Liverpool and with us in third place.

Man United build up - trawling their on-line fan shows on 10:30 - Nov 20 with 1541 views | OldFart71 | A neighbour of mine is a big Man Utd fan. He's a bit strange as if Man Utd are live on tv he won't let me go over and watch as he gets a bit wound up. I have even in the past been blamed for them losing when I was allowed over his. He's really concerned about this game as apparently the new manager want's to change tactics and he feels that may lead to them losing. Let's hope they do. Would be a great result after the Tottenham one.

They were relegated to the 2nd division in 1974, over 5 years before the 6-0. Denis Law, who had moved to Man City, pretty much relegated them with a back-heeled goal, then famously refused to celebrate the goal (a long time before that became the fashionable thing to do).

As I said in the original post, I've been trawling the myriad of United vlogs and podcasts ahead of the game. Including some ridiculously in-depth analysis of a very shot video of his first training session. What is striking me from this content and trawling the Man U message boards, is that no one can really agree on what the starting 11 us going to be, with quite large variations. All feel he is going to go straight for 3-4-2-1, which is a bold move with such little time on the training ground. But all the talking heads can't decide who is best to fit in each space. Jonny Evans seems destined for the central CB role, with DeLigt on right. But Martinez may be injured on left. Many talking about Garnacho as the left wing back?! And is it Rashford as the lone striker of Holjund. So it could be a good time to play them, when we are so well drilled in the system. I think Delap could have joy and Davis. Plus I think we can own the central midfield. Having said all that - they have £40m + players across the pitch, and Amorim is going to lift the dressing room... its going to be a cracker.

Man United build up - trawling their on-line fan shows on 17:09 - Nov 20 with 1305 views | Crawfordsboot | I’ve been a Town fan for 64 or so years so I dream of a win this weekend. I live near Manchester and my son and grandson are bothUnited fans. Son has a season ticket at OT, as do I so that we can go together to see premiership football. When Town play at Old Trafford I face the “should I, shouldn’t I” dilemma. Seriously considering a half n half, which would be a first for me. Failing that I’d have to wear my Town top under a coat as I sit behind one of the goals. We live in exciting times Bring back Mick 😂 | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Under a new manager they might be re-motivated. But then, if he's going to drastically change the way the play, they might need some time to adjust so could be ripe for a beating.

Imo. As much as its going to be difficult for KM to predict how they will lineup. It's also very difficult for utd to know how they are actually going to play. We've seen the troubles of playing a way players aren't ready for. They may well as individuals have talents well above some of ours. But as a unit they won't be as strong. Off the ball they'll be in positions they possibly haven't been in yet this season which could play nicely into our hands with how we utilise davis. Sammy and hutch. If we can put out a lineup close to what we did against spurs we have a big chance here.

And 94-95 was our third season in the premier league. 2000/01 was our fourth appearance in the PL.

Man United build up - trawling their on-line fan shows on 12:05 - Nov 19 by Jrm_72 | Anyone remember when we beat them 2-0 in the League Cup, 1997/98ish? I remember Mum waking me up to tell me we'd drawn them in the next round. Pretty sure they played their reserves but still a great night under the lights. Lost to Chelsea on penalties in the Quarter-Finals that year I think? |
Don't mention Alan Sunderland. Was there in May 1984. ẞunderland scored 87th minute. Gave Liverpool the League and kept us up. Good day out.

I hope not. He needs to get back on merit, and as we have all seen, we currently have better options.

I was there, and for the Chelsea match too. Remember watching Paul Scholes warming up by lobbing ball after ball into the top right hand corner of the goal and feeling that we didn't have much of a chance, so was relieved when he was just on the bench when they announced the teams. Still a reasonably strong United side whilst a little weak and outnumbered in midfield. That Taricco free kick to make it 2~0, let's hope for one like that on Sunday. And they had to bring Scholes on but still couldn't score. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ipswich-town_manchester-united/index/spielberich
