Chelsea after Delap on 08:37 - Nov 23 by Kieran_Knows | I’ll blame that on my current eye infection and barely being able to see out of 1 eye 😂. |
Our ref v Leicester had the same thing. Hope it gets better soon.

We’ve essentially got him on loan from City…. on 10:03 - Nov 23 by Bloots | ….where if he’s crap we lose £15m and are stuck with him and if he’s good we give him back and get paid a few mill after the loan period for improving him. Anyone that thinks we have a deal in place that benefits us to any major degree and not City is living in a fantasy world. We are playing with the big boys now. |
Indeed we are, but it isn’t Evans and Clegg playing with the big boys hoping for crumbs from the master’s table. Even I can work out that taking all the risk for £15-£20m plus wages in the hope he might score a few goals and get our money back at the end of it is about as stupid a deal as you could get. I can’t see the current ownership falling for that, though they did come close to getting mugged off by Chelsea for a one legged treatment table warmer. As for a deal that benefits us to any major degree, it really depends on your definition of major. According to reports, Delap signed a five year deal. He is our player. Why would we sell him to anyone at the end of the season if there was no benefit to us? If he was to return to Man City, or move on to Klingon North End, I’d be very surprised if it didn’t benefit us - Man City too.

Most important for me is that he's banging in the goals for us right now and not Southampton. Whatever we needed to agree to in order to have our offer accepted, and to convince Delap to choose us over the south coast, I'm very happy we did it.

Chelsea after Delap on 09:53 - Nov 23 by nodge_blue | I would have thought a buy back clause only applies as a matching one? Man City cant just rock up one window and say we are applying the buy back clause and he's off. It would be very annoying if they did have an option to buy him at a fixed price if and when we do come to sell him. If that was the case, I assume we would go until the very final window. |
They can if that’s what’s agreed in the deal.

Didnt Ashton say recently that someone would beed to write a cheque with alot of zeros in it to get him out. It would seem a bit silly to say that so bullish if man city could do that for a fairly modest fee of 30 mil.

Chelsea after Delap on 13:44 - Nov 23 with 545 views | Bramidan | I thought I’d read that Delap got fed up at Man City because he realised he wouldn’t get much time on the field. Chelsea has a huge squad so unless the deal included starting a certain number of games! He would be virtually in the same position. If it’s purely for financial gain how much more do these clubs pay their “squad players” That is a genuine question.

To be fair, any player who is wanted by the big clubs is essentially on loan, buyback clause or not, so its just saving on time negotiating a fee.

He’d treble his money at Chelsea.

I’ve said before, I doubt City are going to put a clause in that’s prohibitive to them. I reckon it will be in the 35-40 million range maybe just over.
