4 point gap 22:18 - Nov 25 with 3711 viewsOldsmoker

It's official.
There is a group 'threatened' by relegation and we are in it.
West Ham in 14th with 15 points.
Everton in 15th with 11 points.

Sky + red tops will be able to patronise us as 'plucky' every time we gain a point.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

By that reasoning, every team below Liverpool is an "also ran" on account of the 8-point gap they have over 2nd place.

You might be right of course - we've probably left our title push a little late.

It'll probably come down to the away game at Anfield, at this rate.

We've won 2 of our last 3 matches there, haven't we? Piece of cake.

And we only have 26 games left to bridge that gap! Panic!

You're probably right there. Roll on Jan 25th.

I guess the reality is, that we have to believe that Southampton will stay in the bottom 3, and then we have to get/stay above at least 2 of Crystal Palace, Leicester, Everton & Wolves. Done.

I shouldn't get involved, but I think the points tally for staying up is going to be higher than recent years. Bar Southampton, it suddenly looks competitive - 45 points to stay up?

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

It must be on just about everyone's wish-list for Leicester and Everton to go down. Ideally, Man City would complete the list but I think we'll have to make do with Southampton instead.

I suspect playing both Everton and Leicester as our last two away matches of the season will put us well clear of them.

Everton; the second best team we have seen at Portman Road this season. We may have to look elsewhere for relegation candidates.

Leicester seem the obvious one to get dragged in

Feck, that's a bit concerning. What with you being the biggest expert in relegation on the forum..

That's a pretty amazing stat given that we haven't won any of our last 6 games at Portman Road!

You think the points total required to stay up will be higher than in any 20-team Premier League season in history? When more than a quarter of the league has less than one point per game, almost a third of the way through the season?

No.

Yeap, astounding news and difficult to accept, but unfortunately, that's what will happen.

I kind of like Everton. They’re not Liverpool, for starters.
