Have spoken to a few people about the weekend fixture and the consensus seems to be that they are a team we have to beat.

Why? 8th in the table. Above Brentford, Man Utd, West Ham, Everton, Leicester, Palace and Southampton - sides where we've taken a total of 3 points from 21.

Going to be a very, very tough game again.

But Brentford, Brighton and now Fulham and Bournemouth continue to yet again serve to remind us that if we can stay up or even bounce back at the first attempt, that it's still very very possible to become a very established Premier League team knocking at the European door.

On paper looks a much, much harder game than Palace but there's definitely an element of underestimating them from the fan base at least because of the stature of their club.

They have a lot of good attacking players. In a pure football match I think we probably put up a good fight but get outclassed.

Szmodics must start IMO.

I wouldn't be massively shocked to see Taylor start this one.

Totally agree they will be organised and are very quick on the break , their manager is someone I think the club should target if and when McKenna move on , very good manager indeed.

In our favour is that they are a high press-team and will probably fancy a gunfight - if we are at our swashbuckling best we'll have a chance, but it's been a while since we've seen that for a full 90.

I think Iraola's next move is going to be a level above us to be honest, even if we stay up. He is a fantastic manager. A team with genuine Champions League aspirations should take him on.

On paper Tottenham away was much harder than Palace ... and Leicester beat Bournemouth at home so why can't we?

We could easily have beaten Man United, Fulham, Leicester or Villa at home, at some point we will edge a home game when we play well.

So why not Bournemouth ... of course they could spank us, that's the nature of this league.

No one is under estimating Bournemouth, they've got some very good players but they might have a collective off day, it happens.

Their finishing is woeful by the way, judging by last night's performance.

And let's be clear, just like Brentford they are a genuinely mickey mouse club pumped way beyond their true size by the financial steroids of Premier League TV money.

Before their game last night they were only 5 places above us (but quite a few points) but I did regard them as a possible team we could finish above, but no, they really aren't. It'll be a massive achievement to finish out of the bottom three and I'm struggling to think who would finish below us.

That's possibly the killer

We can finish about southampton.

But can we beat two other sides to safety.

Palace. Yes if they lose Eze in Jan.

Wolves... possibly altho again they may turn it around.

I don't like saying must wins. But that wolves game. Its got to be a town win when we play it. We lose that going into that last 3 games of 2024 and we are in a bit of trouble.

a niche perspective
