Fully aware of Bournemouth's strengths, developed team over the last couple of seasons, but we've got strengths. Not necessarily weaknesses, but no playing style doesn't have areas which can be attacked. Bournemouth run a lot, can leave open spaces, think it should make for a really good game on Sunday.

Keeping squad fresh, not going to be the same XI, could see on Tuesday the challenge for some younger players. Would like to have one or two more available for us to rotate. But generally have a fit squad, subs made an impact the other night. Going to need all those things. Really physical game on Tuesday, same again on Sunday, but they've played Thursday.

Injuries, lost three important players, Hirst, Axel, Ogbene, still managing some knocks, not all out of the woods, managing while not taking risks. Phillips and Johnson still not 100 per cent.

Ali, best performance. Greaves header very unfortunate. Ali stepped on from Man U.

Narrow margins in last two, were very positive prior to them. Know it's going to be a season of disappointments, but also one of great moments. Another chance Sunday and in weeks to come. All looking forward to Sunday.

We have to stop Bournemouth reaching their best levels, they're further down the line than us. Not many games this season where we can have a free for all, need to be organised, disciplined and impose ourselves. Challenge. Top performance from AFCB last night.
Presser on 13:43 - Dec 6 with 3095 views | Facefacts | Can TWTD please start asking the difficult questions: Need to get the crowd up for it at all costs. Lose the anxiety somehow. Two up front and play more balls into them? Delap and Ali. Even if we lose it sometimes, at least the ball will spend more time in the final 3rd. Playing out, we are being sussed out as we don't have Vas quality on the ball, eg. v Crystal Palace Make changes at HT as we are so vulnerable 45 to 60th min. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Two additional days make a difference? We can't count on that. They'll make a decision on rotation. Stats v high for fitness. Can't go into game thinking we've got an advantage. We've had a good couple of days to prepare and rest.

Injuries this season, looked at managing training load in appropriate way. Longer term injuries, runs through Hirst, Axel etc, happened in games at a level player are stepping up to. Modifying training more than we would in the Championship. Knew it was a season where we would get more injuries. But also a risk of not going into games without training to right level.

Atmosphere, goes both ways. Can't complain about support, opportunity to affect what goes on pitch. Probably easier against Liverpool etc, not reached same level on and off the pitch against Palace etc. Understandable, more significance attached to those sorts of games. Balance of backing our players but also respecting the level of the opponent such as Palace. To have a 50/50 game against Palace means team work hard, harder than in Championship.

That's really interesting - demand on players in higher intensity matches needs to be offset in training without losing development time and sharpness. Makes sense but not often considered with the promoted teams as rarely are teams promoted without extensive Prem history (yoyo clubs) I imagine for us it is harder than others who had more Prem experience / prep.

Jens, discussing whether up to three games in eight days, definitely not up to three 90 mins. Games 1-0 defeats not 5-0, not a gulf. Alwasy going to be season of development, Greaves only 7/8 Premier League games, J Clarke two or three starts. Similarities between Forest and Palace but things we did better in latter. Different sort of game Sunday, can't have hangover from Tuesday. FA Cup draw. Not thinking past next game. Glad to get a home game.

Presser on 14:39 - Dec 6 with 2146 views | Linners | Can we ask McKenna if they can win this game? I always think it's better when we win than when we lose so can we do that? I don't mind if we get relegated because the Championship is better but all I ask is that we're brilliant in the Premier League and win every game or lose 5-4 in a great game that the TV companies like. We should be 5% better every week so by the time we play Liverpool again we should be twice as good as we were the first time. I fully believe in McKenna and everything he says as long as we win otherwise I am worried he may be out of his depth and Potter is available.

It would be unfortunate if the 5% applied to everyone as then other teams are starting at at higher base level every 5% increase would actually put them further away from us. That would be shame and would require some wizardry. SB [Post edited 6 Dec 2024 17:11]

Fair point re the crowd question and that was asked, and has been for the last couple of games. I don't think Kieran is going to swap to a two-man frontline after three years playing the same/similar system. Interesting point re 46-60 mins, are we especially vulnerable during that spell? Not looked. I know almost all our games until recently had had goals one way or another in the first 15.

I think the poster is correct In bringing that time period up. I can't remember us conceding many during it... but we as fans probably have spent alot of those minutes praying for changes as we've seen things going against us the game getting away from us.
