You’ve got to say if on their A game that Phillips is a way ahead of Morsy for PL standards.

If everyone was fit, my preferred 11 would be;

Muric
Tuanzebe O'Shea Greaves Davis
Morsy Cajuste
Hutchinson Smzodics Clarke
Delap

Injuries clearly not helping us at the minute, changing 4-5 players every week just isn't what we're used to. For the past 2 years, you could name at least 8-9 that would start every week.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

I love super Sam but I do think it's a pretty damning indictment of how the season has gone for us fitness/injury wise that he's remained the constant, most pivotal central midfielder when we have two players of the calibre of Cajuste/Phillips here.

I'm glad someone else said it - I was starting to question my knowledge of our own players!

I think Morsy is a prime example of how we define ourselves at the moment, we're defensively solid, but we don't have that Prem Quality when on the ball to win more games, we're competing as a battle, but when you see the types of passing being played by prem clubs and you look at ours, it's night and day imo. Morsy kinda falls to that, he's done fine, not bad at all, but as a midfielder he is limited with what he does with the ball which I don't think helps us, again not a slight on him, afterall if he was that prolific with that aspect, he wouldn't have ended up in league 1 with us anyway. But I do think people see more of Morsy than there is. Realistically IF Phillips and Cajuste were 100% fit, that would be our midfield duo.

a niche perspective

I think the point about being able to name 8-9 that would start each week became true around about the Dec/Jan time period in each of those seasons. I think up until that point in both seasons there was a bit more variety - particularly around the front 4.

I don't think Burgess is better than Greaves. I think it is more to do with his injury and the inconsistent learning he has had. A bit like how Tuanzebe didn't look great last season, and yet this season was seaming unbeatable down the right against tougher opponents because he'd had a decent run at it and had the opportunity to learn more.
