Merry Christmas everyone 11:59 - Dec 25 with 1483 views | hoppy | To everyone on TWTD… Phil, Gav and Mark, to all posters (possibly even extending to news commenters, but they may not even realise as they often don’t venture onto the forum), many of whom I know in person, many others have only known through reading and responding to posts. Sending much love and best wishes to all from having been on my Christmas Day visit for a bit of father and son time with my son at the cemetery, so write this sitting in the car park. It was a fairly quiet start to the day today, with Yasmin now being 13, I’m not quite sure if she’s still a ‘believer’ or pays lip service to Santa having been but she had still asked me to put a mince pie and a glass of port out last night, along with a carrot. The carrot had a bite out of it, the mince pie disappeared, and the port glass was amazingly empty too when she went downstairs! The presents have changed, no longer the noisy toys there used to be - makeup sets and jumpers are much more pleasing to the ears! I made it to the cemetery a little earlier today than usual but I felt bad again as like last year, I came to the cemetery without any flowers. I had meant to get a new flower holder but hadn’t made it to a florists in time. CT won’t have known and neither would any of the other visitors, but I still felt a bit bad that I’d not managed to do what should’ve been a simple thing to do. All I was able to bring was myself and my unending love for a son I never got to enjoy watching grow up, and be the little brother to Yasmin, as he’d have been 9.5 yrs old now. As in previous years, there’s all sorts of people here, individuals, families, larger groups, all taking time out to spend quiet time with loved ones no longer with them. As always, it never escapes my attention how many there are here on this day. Cars come and go whilst I write this, people get out with flowers, return hugging those they’re with or just disappearing again if on their own. Sorry, I’ve rambled on again, so will get finished and head down the pub, and then on with the rest of the day, going to my parents this year.. have yourselves a very merry Christmas and appreciate your time with loved ones, and as Swailsey put in his pinned post, it can be a tough time so if anyone is alone, or struggling, as always, please do drop a pm if you want to - always happy to chat - just don’t struggle alone. Merry Christmas. One and all.

Merry Christmas everyone on 12:15 - Dec 25 with 1428 views | Vic | Hoppy, I love your humour that brightens up this place so often. But I love that you show your heart too. Thoughts go out to you, and those like you for whom today brings with it that bit of extra sadness of those loved and lost. Stay true to yourself Hopster; I love this online community , and you make it an even better place. Merry Christmas mate.

Merry Christmas everyone on 15:08 - Dec 25 with 1289 views | Freddies_Ears | Christmas is as much a time to commemorate lost ones as to celebrate with loved ones. Thank you for sharing your inner thoughts and feelings. Thank you for your f2f friendship too. You inspire me. You have been so, so good to me in ways I won't go on about on here, but you understand so well (one evening in St Judes some years ago...)
Merry Christmas everyone on 15:48 - Dec 25 with 1265 views | BanksterDebtSlave | You're one of the good ones Hoppy. Merry Christmas. I still did the mince pie and carrot thing last night and Junior is nearly 20. We also had visit from someone that was raised in the house we just bought, she nervously knocked on the door and ended up staying for ages telling us about years gone by. Turned out that it would have been her mother's birthday. It's all about connection isn't it. Enjoy your evening. [Post edited 25 Dec 2024 18:33]

Merry Christmas everyone on 03:07 - Dec 26 with 957 views | Illinoisblue | There’s a warmth that comes from reading this that cuts through all the cynicism that can often fog our thinking and our vision. Season’s greetings to you and yours.

Merry Christmas everyone on 07:03 - Dec 26 with 885 views | flykickingbybgunn | My little old Mum. Who was once the heart of the kitchen at Christmas. Eventually retired to a little seat in the corner to watch the fun with a glass of sherry and plenty of advice. We put out the seat and sherry this year. ...I know she was with us.

Merry Christmas everyone on 17:00 - Dec 27 with 413 views | bluebudgie | Thanks for sharing. At this time of year, our thoughts are with those we have lost. Belated Happy Christmas, Hoppy. Like you, I was at the cemetery and was surprised at the number of people there, but I also saw the love on display.
