Rooney has to be close to the sack doesn't he? 17:11 - Dec 26 with 3046 viewsgainsboroughblue

Another hiding today, this time from Frank Lampard's Coventry.

Elsewhere, I wouldn't be too surprised if Carrick is shown the door at Boro. Promising much but quite underwhelming progress over the last couple of seasons.

Definitely, his managerial record is abysmal.
Hopefully Plymouth don’t become the Second club he relegates in Twelve months.

His abysmal managerial record didn't stop them appointing him, though!

He is VERY famous. Otherwise known as the Roy Keane effect.

What did they see in him?? Plymouth were such a good side when we played them.

Keane at least had 2 fairly successful seasons at Sunderland under his belt.

At this rate they'd be better off just forfeiting every away fixture before they played it - away from Home Park they are truly dreadful.

Watched a bit of it earlier and they look a real nothing team - no real idea of what to do and several times players wanted to pass it forwards but had nothing on so went back then berated their teammates. Can't be a happy place there - Rooney again separating 'them' from himself rather than talking about 'we'.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I think that 'local-businessman-made-good'-type owners tend to get all starry-eyed when they see 'big name' CVs land in their in trays.

"Oh wow, as if Roy Keane/Wayne Rooney/Frank Lampard would even consider Ipswich/Plymouth/Coventry..."

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Plymouth are likely to yo-yo between the second & 3rd tiers so joining them was likely to be a tough gig, but no wonder that Rooney can't get a better job.

One wasn’t it? Then a public meltdown in slow motion when they were in the PL. Unless I’m remembering that wrong. The team he took up was exceptionally strong for the Championship too.

But I’ll acknowledge I’m biased and prejudiced against the horrible butt hole!

Keane got Sunderland promoted in his first season & kept them in the PL in his second. That's 2 pretty good seasons, but unfortunately it convinced Evans that he was the right man for the Town job.

I’ve missed a season out by the sounds of it. For some reason I was convinced he was sacked in his first PL season, but the meltdown must have been in the second one. He was less crap than I remember then lol

Yeah, by all accounts he was a decent appointment. Like most of the Evans appointments(other than Lambert) they did make sense on paper.

Rooney definitely getting sacked soon, and luckily for them, Schumacher is available so you'd imagine he'll go right back. Doesn't look like Walters got his vanity appointment right at stoke, either.

And Pelach gone after three months. Walters definitely got it wrong.

Pelach was a disaster. Think it may have been seen as a mini McKenna type appointment.

Losing Schumacher was a big problem for them, I assume Stoke have since sacked him

Could he end up back at Plymouth or too many bridges burnt?

Because he had little formal education doesn't mean he isn't bright. On the contrary, I've heard from good sources that he is actually an intelligent guy but perhaps lacks the tools to put that into practice because of being only around football from an early age.
He probably doesn't help by positioning himself as an old school manager rather than coach. He apparently doesn't spend much time on the training ground which can't endear him to the players.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
