Sorry about that but I can’t be arsed to stay up until midnight, so I thought I’ll set them off early and then go to bed.

I live in a posh area so I would rephrase your accusation as entitled a*holes with far too much money.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Is everyones smart phone/Apple watch etc. half an hour ahead?
It's not even midnight.
What is going to happen at midnight?
Even more fireworks?

At £20 a firework this is an extreme waste of money.
I blame Keir Starmer.

At 11:50pm 31/12/2024 Bristol had more money than sense.

Bristol has a lot less money now.

Off course I'm not.
I'm as mad as a hatter.

You must be the only person on TWTD that doesn't have me on ignore.

As a dog owner, whose pet is very stressed by fireworks, backfiring engines, etc, Halloween to New Years is always difficult.

This year we have tried to use tealight candles a lot, so our doggy is used to the idea of flickering lights being ok. I think it has helped, but I just wish the fireworks were from 0:00 and not from 20:00 onwards.

I realise this impacts on other people, but new year's day only happens at midnight. If you want your kids to enjoy it, let them stay up until midnight. Us Gen X kids managed that way. 😂

Us boomers had a flickering b&w TV image of Big Ben, and zero fireworks (which nobody dreamed of setting off for anything except Guy Fawkes night back then) if we were lucky enough to be allowed to stay up until midnight. TWTD …

Sympathies to your mutt. My young Lab is fortunately impervious to noise, and joined me in a jig round the kitchen, seemed to catch the mood!

Agreed - they are a menace, distresses pets and wild animals. On top of that it’s more useless crap imported from China - creates pollution and waste we’ll be finding plastic bits of rockets for days.

Edit - surely a light show or drone display would be a more progressive option these days?
