Am I the only one that’s not bothered about Philogene? 22:56 - Jan 11 with 5718 viewsHciwspi

Messed us about in the Summer (or his agent did) and appears to be more trouble than he’s worth. More important areas of the squad to strengthen.

With Ogbene, Hutchinson, Szmodics and Chaplin out we are down to the bare bones with number 10's.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

His agent seems like an absolute bell end, and for reasons unknown this deal seems to be taking a long time to finalise, off the back of the circus that was the summer window when we chased him for so long, so it’s definitely frustrating. Having said that I think he’s superb, I loved the look of him at Cardiff and again at Hull last season. I’ve seen a lot of him and he’s been one (probably THE one) I’ve been wanting to see in a Town shirt for a long time, I just hope we can get it done soon and get him involved for Brighton. I think Philogene & Omari behind Delap in the ‘new system’ could be delicious.

I was gutted we didn't sign him in the summer.

I am finding the Philogene discourse increasingly strange. Why is he more trouble than he's worth? What evidence do we, as fans, have of that? £22m transfers take time and he's hardly needed on Sunday. The announcement will be made tomorrow/Monday and he'll be ready to play against Brighton. Why is everyone losing their minds?

His agent is obviously a bell-end, but watching that reel shows a player who knows where the goal is, is fast, full of tricks and unselfish. So agent aside, what’s not to like?

I think he’s a terrific player. He’d benefit us and visa versa. But he is Villa and his agent’s player and he either wants to be here as Hutchinson and Hirst did or he doesn’t. If he wants to hold out for Everton or somebody fine. Have a great career. Toodloo. Simple as that.

What I’m puzzled about is how it was said that the deal was done, medical complete, just waiting paperwork etc. On the face of it, there’s no substance to that. I’ve no doubt Phil will clarify at some point.

As someone said before the same thing happened with Hirst and we were all panicking a bit weren't we? What will be will be. It's not been long in reality.

I’m not. For me it’s binary. Do or don’t. Wants to come here, doesn’t. I really have no idea what the process involves, who knows what or who is telling the truth.

But when all is said and done, it’s up to the player. If he loves the idea of Everton, a sparkly stadium and Moyes great. Good luck, let’s move on. We had all this rubbish with hopalong Broja and nobody is chasing him now.

As with the OP I’m really not bothered. I think he’s a good player who I hope signs, but not one to be mugged over for. Adding to Hirst and Delap if we can is the priority, along with a box to box midfielder, as far as I’m concerned.

I know what you mean, sadly our position, injuries and games starting to run out means we are desperate for an attacker who can create. That said I can't see why he's not through the door yet clearly his agent is touting to the likes of Everton, WHU etc.

Yes, you are.

I'm not that bothered.

I'd rather we spent the money at CB, Striker or CM. Probably in that order.

Gav's video is great. However, the cynic is me says Omari and Jack Clarke's highlights are good in the championship. We need to be realistic about the step change in moving to the prem. This makes me think we are at risk of overpaying.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Those ridiculous highlights reels always remind me of those old film previews you used to get. You’d see clips from a film. All interesting and action packed.

You’d go to it thinking ‘this’ll be good’ only to sit through two hours of tedium, the 30 secs shown in the advert being the only good bits.

I’m sure Jonathan Douglas looked like Zinedine Zidane and Jay Tabb like Trevor Whymark with that headed Middlesbrough goal in their highlights reels.

I was excited about him in the summer but do have some reservations about him now. Unai Emery is a top manager and has failed to get anything out of Philogene this season, if he was setting the PL on light Emery wouldn't let him go.

Now that could be he needs more time, it could be as does happen AV & Philogene isn't a natural fit. It could be Philogene's limit is top Championship, similar to how Jack Clarke has looked so far this season.

A lot of players have been purchased for future value, Philogene is one of those. But one thing you can be sure about, if the worse happens and we are relegated, Philogene will be the first one demanding to leave, well his agent will.

Solid player, but, surprised Mark Ashton has danced this dance with his reps (twice).

Out of interest how did he mess us about in the summer?

We had a bid accepted and Villa had 72hrs to match it and once they did, he chose them. A champions league club with a top European manager over relegation favourites.

We’ve now agreed a deal with Villa on Wednesday and he’s had his medical Thursday. We know very little more than that so to put the ‘delay’ all on philogene or is agent is a bit presumptuous.

Transfers are complicated and take time.

Isn't that his agents job? He was talking to Everton before we decided to push ahead for a deal as well.

I'm sure that every player with an agent does the same thing before moving clubs, they'll access which ones are interested and this will be nothing different.

At this stage, there's also absolutely nothing to suggest that he's not going to sign.
