I can't stop watching Ali's penalty on 11:54 - Jan 13 by FrimleyBlue | Funny how many who seem to defend aah, are actually ones who don't like muric. it's odd, it's disgraceful to not like aah, but it's absolutely fine to not like the GK. |
I mean there is a clear difference though isn't there hahah

I can't stop watching Ali's penalty on 14:09 - Jan 13 by _clive_baker_ | Yeah it wasn't an air shot at all, there was one in the 2nd half but I think it was Massimo. Ali did alright yesterday (penalty aside) to be fair. Led the line OK and did what was needed for 70 minutes, and crucially allowed us to keep Delap off the pitch and still comfortably win the game, which was always going to be the requirement. Ultimately he's nowhere near good enough to be getting minutes in the premier league, but I don't know a single town fan disputes that. I'm not really sure what point the haters are trying to make every day tbh, we can all see he's out of his depth in the league. Yesterday was the ideal game to play him in though. We need to a) keep Delap fit, b) get Hirst back up to speed and keep him at speed and c) sign another forward. That would allow AAH to go out on loan and we can revisit it in the summer and see where all parties are at. Hating on Ali achieves absolutely feck all, nobody is arguing in favour of him playing a bigger role, all people are saying is he's only featuring because we literally don't have anyone else. |
all people are saying is he's only featuring because we literally don't have anyone else" Literally no one else? 2 academy sides and there's not 1 player who could run around, scuff a shot, miss a penalty and run around. [Post edited 13 Jan 14:25]

You say 'players from the academy' a lot, but specifically who are you referring to that are demonstrably of a higher level than AAH? I'm quite close to the academy and trust me, there aren't any. If there were they would've featured by now.

I think that says more about the state that Marcus Evans left our Academy in than anything else!

I can't stop watching Ali's penalty on 10:54 - Jan 13 by BlueSpark | I'm not one to pile on a player but he had a shocking game; watch it in slow motion, that shot looked wide of the target. |
I was right in line with it and it would have been wider than the 6 yard box line.....it was a dreadful attempt for what was a massive chance

Bob on. Feel sorry for the guy, he's clearly giving it his best, I very much doubt he's going onto the pitch to try and make himself look dreadful, it's not his fault we have shat the bed on getting strikers in. That being said, we can all see he's miles off it, and needs to go and learn his trade lower down.

I can't stop watching Ali's penalty on 11:14 - Jan 13 by nrb1985 | From the replays it looks like he's going for the Ivan Toney method and watching the GK for him to move and not looking at the ball. Hence he ends up scuffing the top of the ball which creates that ridiculous bounce. Maybe he was trying to be clever to prove a point? My view would probably be if you're low on confidence but adamant you'll take it, put your foot through it and go down the middle. |
He took an equally poor penalty against Bristol City when it was level on 85 mins last season. Whatever happens (he’ll go on loan soon), he won’t be taking penalties any more.

AAH is still learning his trade; way out of his depth here and that's not his fault. Muric is a £10m goalie with loads of experience and should be in his depth here. That's why people are as they are. Personally I think Muric is a decent keeper and not one I was calling to swap out.

AAH is 22. Not a kid. But yes he's learning Muric is 26. But even at 26 he's had just 30 odd games more than AAH. Albeit higher level of course. But muric only had 2 full seasons in his career to date as a number 1 over the season. As KM said about phillips. When you ignore the fee they are humans.. So if you're gonna moan about muric. Then don't moan at those who moan about AAH.

I can't stop watching Ali's penalty on 15:54 - Jan 13 with 911 views | jayceee | No - watching it once was hard enough. Feel terrible for the lad. You know he wants to impress and this will haunt him for a while no doubt. Saw a few shocking comments in chat during the match 'Go back to Iraq' etc. Not cool - we should be supportive of any of our players that gives 100% even if they're not ready yet. I hope he one day silences his critics and becomes an important part of our team.

It was a massive chance but fluffed, luckily Clarke on hand to score. Two bites of the cherry, second taken. [Post edited 13 Jan 16:21]

Glad you said it I’ve watched his warm him shooting of late… I’m not exaggerating when I say he puts 85% wide or over. I’m sure something will tell me that doesn’t matter, or something

For final ten minutes of games could we try Massimo? He could run about and harrie the opposition and most importantly he can shoot on target! He played well given lack of minutes, was a bit rusty, but plenty of effort and energy.

But it wasn't an air shot and it wasn't in front of an open goal. Do you agree?
