Its speculation, but that's all people have to go off. Unless you know more?
The hold up could be down to any number of reasons tbh, its not unthinkable that Villa want a replacement done first, but also its not unthinkable that they don't, and that they would be happy to do the deal regardless. The fact Emery spoke openly about him leaving would imply they're comfortable with it and expecting it.
It felt all but done last week though, so its a bit of a surprise its not done yet IMO, I was expecting it to have been confirmed by now. Having said that the news of him going back to Villa first broke about a week before that was confirmed in the Summer so these things can and do take time. |  | | |

Completely different though isn’t it. We wouldn’t have been able to do a medical with Philogene if they were waiting for someone else to replace him and if it were the case then it would have been reported as such at the time. | |

Personally, I don’t think there was necessarily an onus on replacing him, before letting him leave, but the fact they have now agreed a replacement, means they’ll be very keen to get his transfer sorted to balance the books. | | | |
