Mr Tricker could also save a tenner by parking elsewhere.

Furthermore, some simple arithmetic tells you the council didn't make £41,764.85 from football parking at £15 a time. Unless 2,784.32 people paid the charge.

That's a bit too simple though. That'll be the profit after Mipermit take their %

Technically speaking, the Council are not allowed to 'profit' from car parks I believe there's some contractual obligation that that money must be reinvested into ring fenced areas of their budget

Maybe get the numbers right and show how much people could save parking elsewhere?! If the car park is full, then supply and demand is working. I rarely use Portman road car park because it's a pain to get out from! So the price rise hasn't bothered me personally.

that the council cant add up properly would be no surprise, but I wasnt sure where the Star got the figures from, like if the FOIA'd the numbers, why would the council then refuse to comment about them, not least to give a positive spin on the story ? so have the interns up at the EDP offices just got their calculators out and have done number of spaces (estimated) per £15 per game and got their weird figures that way ?

I must admit, I can't quite get my head around this one. BossBeard is a die hard socialist**** and I am a confirmed capitalist+++ We are though, I would like to think, very close friends. Strange thing is, Bossbeard the socialist is very much in favour of the £15 charge but I think it's profiteering and abhorrent. I'm struggling with this one. Surely, normally, it should be the other way around? Or..........is Bossbeard implementing a car park tax on the rich? ******Champagne ++++ Man of the people
