It's such a huge and important game for our season.

I don't usually like to overstate the importance of individual games, or use phrases like 'must win', but that one is pretty close to it.

Conversely I'm not remotely bothered by Liverpool, nor was I by man city. Those games are pretty much pointless as they are such a mismatch - I'm sure lots on here would take a 3-0 defeat if offered it now. Just get it out of the way and then focus on the important games.

I'm getting nasty 2002 flashbacks. We lose 6-0 at home, then the next home game is against Southampton. Confidence is shot, we let Chris Marsden turn into Diego Maradona, lose 3-1 and never really recover.

I worry people are underestimating Southampton a bit, they're not a bad side despite their points tally. 12 months ago it would've been regarded as one of the toughest games of the season, now they're a club we look at and think it has to be a home banker. Such is the level in the Premier League.

Agree we need to win it. Our season won't be defined by games against Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool. I dare say we'll lose all 6 of those. We need to take the opportunities when they come to get 3 points on the board, and in the grand scheme of things there aren't many better ones. From our home games against Southampton, Tottenham, Forest, Wolves, Brentford and West Ham we probably need 10 points (and to not lose to Wolves).

We shouldn't underestimate them, you're quite right. But neither should we fear the game or get nervous about it!

We're likely to be at full strength next week (barring catastrophe at Anfield) with the potential for another signing or two too. We've got a young, vibrant and dynamic forward line that we just need to get behind and let flourish.

We've spent too many years in the doldrums not to enjoy games like next weekend.

I wouldn't be so dismissive of the Liverpool game. It's still two PL teams playing each other, you never know.

Southampton is a horrible prospect, I almost don't want to go. Expectation will be off the scale and I worry we could see ourselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes, it's just the type of game that will produce something ridiculous.

Even if we beat Southampton it won't mean we survive, conversely if we don't win it doesn't mean guaranteed relegation. It will be tough, but I'm hopeful of a Broadhead moment. We were going nowhere in that game and heading for a defeat until a bit of Broady magic and he scored from a nothing position and it turned the game on its head.

True, but in all honesty, lose at home against Southampton and from a psychological perspective I think it would be a blow we would struggle to recover from!

They are well on course for a record low points total and whilst we have had a few poor performances many of theirs have been horrendous.

‘It’s a must win’ gets overused a lot but in this case I think it’s justified.

Not nervous at all , if we can’t beat statistically the worst PL side in history at home then we deserve to join them quite frankly!

I think both things are true tbh. Objectively speaking its probably our best chance of getting a win from our remaining games, so in that respect its obviously a vital one. But that's driven more by Southampton's ability and results relative to the other opponents we're facing, rather than strictly our superiority over them. Based on what I've seen of them I don't think there's much in it, as there wasn't twice last season or once already this season. Its a bit of a coin toss IMO and I just hope our fans don't arrive too expectantly. We need to approach it as the 50:50 game it probably is and help get us over the line.

Without doubt our key, must win games are Saints Leicester Wolves Everton And to some degree WHU Palace. The rest in the division would be a bonus if we got anything. It was always going to be thus too. Win those games (definitely don't lose), and i think we'll survive this season.

I get they're "flying" but I've still got Forest down as a game I'd want to get at least a point. In fact, probably head in to the fixture wanting 3

I often feel its easier playing the better sides than those fighting relegation. WE historically seem to fail to turn up against the teams around us don't we... here's hoping we can put that to bed this season. Our survival depends on it I feel.

To start with it's important that we don't let in another six against Liverpool as I believe goal difference may be crucial at the end of the season and the last eight goals really hurt us as far as that is concerned. Southampton won't be easy as most of our poorer games have come against lesser opposition.
