From going into December in the League One relegation zone, they are now in the play-offs.
Nine wins and two draws in their last 11 games, including a 6–2 win at Exeter on Tuesday evening. They kept clean sheets in nine of those 11 fixtures — reminds me a little bit of us in the final third of the 22/23 season.
They lost their first four matches and seven of their opening 11. Their record has gone from 4–3–9 to 13–5–9.
Richie Wellens is their manager and Darren Pratley the skipper — Pratley turns 40 in April.
From finishing 3rd and then being 2–0 up against Fatty Evans' Rotherham in the PO final in 2014 (only to lose on penalties) to ending up in the Conference three years later, Orient have had a pretty eventful decade or so. Seems like the club is in a much better place now after the turmoil under their Italian owner a few years back.
They haven't played in the second division since 1982 and I wouldn't mind seeing them in the Championship, although hopefully not against us...

It’s been an incredible turnaround since 1st December. The club is well run by an owner that is a life long Orient supporter, so it is now in good hands after the Italian ownership. The playing budget is in the lower regions of the league, but the squad have consistently outperformed that over the last couple of seasons in L1. The club have recruited extremely well in the loan market, Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley from Spurs, Charlie Kelman from QPR and Jack Currie from Oxford United have been terrific. Darren Pratley simply keeps going, defying his age he’s a fantastic role model for Orient’s younger players and a consummate professional and leader. There was concern that El Miz had moved on, but the way the O’s are playing currently and looking at the midfield options Wellens has, he’s not really missed.

That Jamie Donley bloke looks like a cracking find for them. Assist on 20 secs is chappers-esque , plus goal on 1:56 is quite a hit.

He started off slowly, but has really found his feet the last couple of months in L1. It’s his first loan, so it’s completely understandable it’s taken him a bit of time to adjust. A lot of credit to the recruitment department, they have made some really good signings.

I’ve been reading up a bit about them this morning and it seems that they’ve been on quite a journey. Wellens appears to be doing a great job. They’re having to borrow training pitches off a local school, but are also aiming to build a new stadium in the medium term to double capacity. They’re on quite a run and the future looks bright for them.
I’d not realised Dom Ball has ended up there. He’s played a lot, but wasn’t in the team last night. I’m not sure if he’s injured, suspended or out of favour.

Yes, Dom Ball is injured, as are two of their best attacking players, Dan Agyei and Ollie O'Neill, and another of our old favourites (!), Jordan Graham. The January recruitment to replace them has been incredible, with Dillan Markanday and Azeem Abdulai scoring 5 in 5 between them so far. They picked up more injuries to important players last night, though, so whether they can maintain this run remains to be seen.
It's been an amazing turnaround, but their current winning run doesn't include any games against a Wrexham, or a Birmingham or a Wycombe, so there are tough tests to come. A 4-0 win at Barnsley was a stand-out result, though.
My dad was an Os fan, so I keep a close eye on them. The 2014 play-off final that Miaow mentions was the last game he saw.
Orient 3–0 up against Mansfield at HT this evening... Going well and with a healthier goal difference than others around them. Mansfield on course for a seventh straight defeat in all competitions.

Been in free-fall Mansfield. They lost at home to Northampton on Friday night too which has taken some doing this season, unless Nolan is getting a tune out of them.
I suspect Clough has plenty of credit in the bank. He seems to get plenty of time wherever he goes and they did start the season well enough to not be too worried about the drop.

I volunteered at my local parkrun last Saturday morning doing the barcode scanning. I was wearing my ITFC beanie hat. I scanned the barcode of a bloke in a Leyton Orient hat. He clocked my ITFC hat and scrolled through the photos on his phone, saying "See if you recognise who this is".
He showed me a picture of himself standing next to someone, clearly at a game who looked they could be a footballer but was in regular clothes, not playing kit. I was desperately trying to place him and eventually said "It's Dom Ball".
Apparently he is a lovely bloke who speaks very highly of his time at Town.
In other lower league news, have two teams ever been shown up for relying on one player as Peterborough (Poku) and Walsall (Lowe)? Peterborough could well go down, and Walsall are blowing a 12-point lead and could easily not get promoted in a division where 4 go up.
Went to their game last night, they had it won by around the half-hour and could then taper down but I was really impressed, they're a cracking little side. Ethan Galbraith is a hell of a player, wonder if he's one we would have a look at if we went down given McKenna links at United. Ran the show from (nominally) right-back and scored a brilliant goal.
A very forlorn-looking Jordan Rhodes trudging around for a terrible Mansfield, and a seeing-things-out sub appearance for a vocal Dom Ball.
