Defence of Muric is admirable but misguided… 19:02 - Feb 1 with 3801 viewsLibero

No Premier League play has made more errors that have directly led to goals as Arlo, that doesn’t count errors like today for the first goal where he had his whole hand behind the ball yet somehow allowed it through.

I stopped counting a while ago, but he’s lost us numerous points and cost us games.

Yes, he has good attributes, but they’re totally eclipsed by his consistent errors that cost us.
I believe he has the technical ability to play out from the back, but his decision making is diabolical and once he’s been shaken a bit he gets yips- you can literally see the fear in his face at times.

When you consider the money we’ve paid for him too- it has to be seen as a poor piece of recruitment, sadly.

It’s been a while, but he can join the illustrious club that boasts the likes of Dean Gerken, Andy Marshall, Arran Lee-Barratt and Scott Loach…

Defence of Muric is admirable but misguided… on 19:57 - Feb 1 by Portman_Pie

I watched him closely today - and probably spent a little too much time transfixed on his actions rather than watching play - not that I missed much by doing so.

Got to say - my observations revealed that he is the least vocal keeper I have EVER seen wearing the shirt. Having similarly watched Walton - I can’t help thinking that his conversation with the defence is what you’d expect, and dialogue between the defence is always appreciated as to tactics. Muric - nope. Not a friggin sausage today. I genuinely didn’t see him speak to his back line today which worried me. Similarly - what I could t believe whilst watching him - was his absolute lack of gesticulation to where he was going to play the ball. Typically - a keeper indicates to a defender with a point of the finger, sweeping wave or similar as to what they intend to do from a goal kick or dead ball. Nope - not Muric. Instead he played a game of guess who - and without even looking in the players direction the majority of the game - passed it on the deck to them.

O’Shea seemed to be the recipient of most of these un warned passes - but he, being equally as poor at defending and a sucker for relegation - there’s no surprise they worked so badly together. Muric seems to want to ‘mask’ to the opposition who he’s playing out to - but at the same time - his lack of communication is utterly dreadful and doesn’t build any confidence with the defence.

I personally think the defense has looked more assured with Walton’s communication.in the last few games despite the City and Liverpool scores - which were basically inevitable.

Shame Walton’s injured. With Muric in - we might as well wave the white flag and concede.

Whilst I have been in the 'prefer Muric to Walton' camp since the start of the season, one thing I do agree with is that he doesn't talk to his defence. I find that VERY unusual, for a keeper.

I'm wondering if he is not settled at the club, or something. He has seemed distracted from day one.

There are lots of things to love about him as a keeper, but mindset and communication have to be right up there in the top 5 of goalkeeper attributes.. Sadly, those are not working for him right now.

Feel for the guy. I think there is a class keeper in there, somewhere.

Said a while back on a different thread he makes me think of a goalkeeping Theo Walcott.

Bags of athleticism but just absolutely not a footballer,

Harsh on Walcott.

He was a more than decent premier player for a decade.

He's an utter utter shambles and I expect that for most of the fanbase yesterday's latest howlers were the final straw. How can any keeper at this level be so mentally fragile and make such consistently poor decisions? He's the worst ever Ipswich signing and I will stand by that. Signing him was an absolute monumental cock up, the one that will cost Town survival this season.

This.

The trouble is in this league and standard a mistake is punished.

I thought we would have been more than capable to get at least a draw.

Oh well.

Although this isn't really anything, I find it weird that on Instagram all the players follow each other - apart from Muric who hardly has any of the others following him. And in this day, that could be quite telling in a social aspect and how he's fit into the squad.
