Should we have spent on experience over hoping a few little lads stepped up? (n on 20:09 - Feb 1 by Reuser_is_God
We did really.
Those we signed with previous prem experience just haven’t been good enough.
Unfortunately those that did have PL experience largely are experienced in being relegated from it. Aside from Phillips who seems to have be swapped out with a lookalike sometime in 2022.

We signed as if we are running a business. Buying young inexperienced players on long contracts to turn a healthy profit. It will work as well. Delap and hutch will go at the end of this season for a tidy profit. We also got in some really good players in cajuste, Philips and O'Shea, for some reason we keep changing the set up in defence and keep playing Morsy in midfield.

Not sure Hutch goes for a tidy profit. He's not really set the prem alight.
I suspect a West Ham/Everton etc might see him as an option off the bench for a season with the hope he builds on his clear talent.
Well they don't come more experienced than Phillips. O'Shea and Muric have PL experienced. Axel although a lot of injuries, has experience at one of the biggest PL teams

A PL striker with actual background would have been useful, Leicester picked up Ayew as an example, someone like that
Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
We have a lot of spindly little players who are tricksie, I think we're missing a hairy-arsed, battle-hardened brick sh!thouse, like an older, wilier Delap. Or two.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Premier League experience typically signs for Premier League clubs with less chance of being relegated so it's hard to hold that over the recruitment.
Where we might have stood a chance is signing from one of the other top 5 European Leagues instead of all slight, weak players from the Championship who are technically good but quite clearly, without the benefit of hindsight, were unlikely to have the raw athleticism to be a danger at the top level. That for me, is huge naivety from both Ashton and Mckenna.

I think you have a point here Texters.

As others have said previously some of our signings are with an eye to having a much stronger team/squad for the Championship should what we fear happen.
Problem is we're not seeing yet all the new players meshing together. That is the risk when you buy a new team, we need to get some stability in team selection and back the first 11.
Time to knuckle down, grit our teeth and dig deep. It was always going to be a super hard task to stay up. It's not over yet...

Yep. And not only are we buying a new team, we're buying a new team to compete in the Premier League.
I got stick for saying it under Cook but I'll say it again for anyone who cares to listen: teams take time to gel. Real life is not a computer game where you just slot in new players and it works.
I don't understand how some 'fans' think we can just jump two divisions, in this day and age, and compete, just like that.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I can't see Hutchinson being sold to a PL side. Delap and Davis maybe.
