well I work in local government which is mostly left-leaning so the responses and conversation are predictably anti-Trump, more so now if his purge of govt workers at the federal level trickles down to state level.

Not really relevant I know, but I deal with a lot of Americans on a daily basis, often looking after them for a five day period. Now these are far from typical because they are tourists, people that travel the world and probably have a very different attitude and opinion to many of their countrymen (countrypeople?)
The overwhelming response I get from them is embarrassed horro at what's happening in and to their country.
