FFP favours established and big clubs. It restricts those who are promoted in that they need to spend more to bridge the gap but can’t. Established teams can spend >£100m year on year compounding the gap in quality. You can have a team full of players worth over £40m whereas a newly promoted team could only buy a couple at that level.

Essentially getting to the point or being a franchise league, and with parachute payments being so much you’ll largely end up with the same 6 teams swapping between PL and EFl (we were just gatecrashers).

As gatecrashers will we now become one of those 6? Who are the others? Leeds, Burnley, Sheff Utd, Sunderland, Leicester, Southampton, Norwich, Luton? There have been a couple of seasons where the promoted clubs haven't been up to it but extrapolating that to your conclusion is a stretch.

It was 2-1 at the time the substitution was about to be made - how is that the game lost?

...but it was 3-1 when he left the pitch. Did he just down tools because he was about to be taken off?

Don’t think we need the negativity today. Parts of that game were outstanding from Town and Spurs, with the squad availability they had today, are a top six side. It was not a Southampton at home. Yes the gap has grown but we will be right in this until the end. Thursday is colossal, Wolves at home is colossal, and those ‘easier’ games in May could still save us. We don’t need hyperbole today.

The problem is that we made a very average Spurs team look like world beaters today. We huff and puff all day and get nothing while they score with every shot on goal. I don't even think they needed to get out of second gear.

Our failure this season - failing to recruit abroad due to a non-existent overseas scouting network.

Having come straight from League 1. And we have given it a better go than Leicester and Southampton (so far).

It’s not the PL fault that we spent £170m+ to replace a very good Championship team with another very good Championship team - that’s our own.

Eh?

He was going to be subbed at 2-1. My entire point is based on that fact and the fact the game wasn't lost at that point.

The fact it became 3-1 before the sub actually happened is a totally different argument.

I mean that the PL clubs act in their own interests and have done for years.

Start with the closed shop academy system, player loans and hoarding, the huge financial gap. Multiple subs favouring teams with bigger squads etc.

Agree to a point. Certainly FFP is restrictive for newly promoted clubs who need to spend more to make their squads competitive. Perhaps that could be redressed.

What do you regard as “easier games”? Southampton at home, that sort of game..

Yes, of course, our history this season doesn’t bode well but ultimately it’s a very small sample size and things change quickly across a campaign. I don’t think it’s outrageous to suggest we can get 6+ points from Brentford (H), Leicester (A), West Ham (H). If we win on Thursday everybody will be up again.
