It was terrible business, in that we didn't progress, re-invest and our owner ended up losing 100mil or thereabouts of his own money for a third tier club. Had we kept Rhodes/Wickham we may have managed to get into the Playoffs one season and up, and made significantly more than the sales of both brought in. |  |

I don't think Wickham made a bad move, he was just unlucky that he got a knee injury & by the time he was fit again, he had fallen out of favour with new sunderland manager Martin O'Neill, under whom the club were having something of a revival. |  |
