I'm still enjoying it in a way.
Unlikely as it is, we are still in touching distance of safety and although we've had a rough few weeks there have some been some good performances and results. Both Villa games, Man Utd at home, the Liverpool home game at the start, the wins obviously. And we've been a penalty kick away from an FA Cup quarter-final. As well as seeing us pit wits against players I never imagined I'd see us compete with.
Of course it's not been a patch on the last couple of seasons, but I'm glad we're here and excited about the direction of the club generally. | |

The direction of travel is definitely the best bit about the club atm. Its difficult to focus on that with each disappointment. |  | | |

It is possible to simultaneously celebrate the progress we've made over three years whilst also saying there has been pretty much nothing to celebrate this season.
This season has still been pretty s**t - even if we're overall still in a much better space. | |

We are so far from competing at this level. Every mistake is punished and it seems like we have it on rotation that every game is a different player’s turn to lose us the game. Not being able to see out literal minutes has taken a few wins from us, and a few draws.
No settled side for the whole season, even when players are fit, is the most disappointing thing. As well as the PR from the club being how much we are “learning” every game. It’s March now, how much can we learn from more mistakes costing us, or that we can’t defend from a set piece 3 times in a match?
Add VAR decisions and to me, it just feels unfair, unenjoyable and has destroyed everything good we have built (even though we factually are in a much better and privileged position).
And the depressing thing is that if we do well next season the reward is…probably this season again! |  |
