Was good to see how much last night's game meant to the Forest team and staff, judging by the way they celebrated, seemed to reflect how tough the game was.

I have felt in the last few years that the FA Cup has been repeatedly devalued, and while I know neither sides played their perceived strongest teams, the desire to win was there from both teams.

Also from their fans. Pretty full turn-out on a Monday night and better noise than I've heard in many stadiums.

It was one of the few televised games where I’d heard the home fans - usually you just hear our tremendous away support!

It was given a big push by their club as a significant game, and it was, especially for us, I doubt we'll be within shout of an FA Cup Quarter Final again for a very long time, since the last one was in 1993, and we still haven't got there. It was nice to have a chance at that, a good away performance, but we're behind the curve at this level, so it's just not enough to get it over the line.

Sorry Saffers - that really is an unnecessarily negative perspective. We are an improving club - that much is clear for anyone to see. Why then should we not reasonably hope to repeat and exceed this years cup 'run' in the near future? This season has turned out worse than we hoped, but as a club we are still sooooo much better than we've been for years.

Amidst the frustration and disappointment of current results let's keep perspective of the journey our club is on. There's so much negativity from a minority at the moment that it;s tedious and smacks of the entitlement that we bemoan in other clubs fan bases. We're not the finished article, but we are, at this point, on an upward trajectory overall so lets keep focusing on the positives.

Hope they win it now to be fair.

Their fans were a good bunch when I was there for the league game. Enjoying their success but seemed to admire our journey. Spoke to a few in the pub before and they were very knowledgeable about ITFC past & present and all very sincerely saying they hope we stay up ‘where we belong’ in their words. Never been quite sure what’s meant by ‘proper club’ but they are one.

Strange post. We will make a QF in the next three years, comfortably.

I doubt Town will play in another FA Cup Quarter Final within the next decade, given it's been 30+ years since our last, and we're one of the few teams to never play at NuWembley (and that's despite having several goes at the EFL Trophy). We got there this time by playing lower-league teams and found ourselves out as soon as we played someone from the Premier League, we gave it a good go, but we very much looked like a Championship side. We have scraped a couple of League Cup Quarter/Semi Finals but the trend at the club has been, certainly since the 2000's, to treat cup games like reserve fixtures and I don't see that changing anytime soon, there isn't the ambition there and the club will argue that there are more important things.

While I am happy with what Gamechanger has done, I am in the minority that doesn't see us establishing ourselves as a "Premier League" club. I see football itself changing radically over the next 10-20 years and promotion/relegation to that division will be phased out, however if the club can exist and be competitive in the EFL, while being entertaining I would enjoy that more than being hammered by a bunch of Suadi clubs, with some fixtures taking place abroad, being fawned over by Netflix Football or Amazon Sport streaming services! There are big clubs with huge fanbases outside those 17 leaders at present, many of which have been ruined by the Premier League money game over the years, strong enough to back a better league system on their own, and if the EFL had a spine, claim the cups back from the Premier League as well.

Assuming we go straight back up, we'd have to spend a fortune again, and even then, the rest of the established clubs will be that much further ahead. I just can't see it happening if we can't stay up this season. I just know what our luck is like at Ipswich, we do not get many chances at the top flight.

Whether we go down or stay up, I think we can be pretty confident that we'll be a PL club at least once again in the next three seasons. We're building a squad for the future. To reach the QFs, you probably only need to beat one PL side on average.

Why on earth wouldn't we?

Far more likely than this bizarrely negative take: 'I doubt Town will play in another FA Cup Quarter Final within the next decade, given it's been 30+ years since our last, and we're one of the few teams to never play at NuWembley.'

This club's on-pitch past is irrelevant to its future.

But the draw is not seeded, I can't see how you can confidently predict we'll get to a QF in the next 3 years. Its the luck of the draw.

Of course we could, but our Cup record, lets face it, is not great.

Being a premier league club does not make you more likely to get to a QF really. A lot play their reserves like us tonight.

It’s not seeded, but the fact we are comfortably in the top 16-32 clubs in the land means that on average we should be making the last 32 and the last 16 reasonably regularly in the near term.

Doesn’t then take much luck to go the right way to make a quarter final if we want it enough. Over the past decade we have deprioritised the cup to a silly extent.

Forest fans were brilliant at the start and at the end when they won, but throughout most of the gane I thought they were very very quiet. You could gearva pin drop in thstvstzfium at times. They were that nervous.

Then were dogged and resilient throughout the game I thought, but were sadly just not good enough at this level to impose ourselves as an attacking force. Much to do in the summer I feel, but going in the right direction.

This.

'but were sadly just not good enough at this level to impose ourselves as an attacking force'

We didn't invest in experience in this area but we should be well set-up for the coming years.

That poster is tedious with their negativity. As you say it’s not been the season we hoped but that post is negative for sake of being negative, and not for the first time recently. It’s fine to be critical and and annoyed, like last week, but it’s incessant negativity from some on here. There’s some who clearly weren’t paying much attention to ITFC when we were losing 3.0 to Northampton or shipping five goals at Lincoln not so long ago.
