So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket 07:53 - Mar 24 with 7328 views | onceablue | Subjecting everyone else to hardship but she gets to go to a free concert in a corporate box that I guess would be in the region of £1,000 for 2 people if not more. And then openly admits she couldn’t pay for them on TV but will declare their value Her PR person must have to permanently carry a shovel round with them It’s like declaring their value makes it Ok There is certain things unfortunately you can’t do when you are in a position like hers. Ask Mike Bassett😂😂😂 Also you wouldn’t need security if you hadn’t upset so many people with your lies

I echoed your thoughts on why it's boring and offered my own thoughts on why their thoughts are generally boring. Oneablue is absolutely free to take his anti labour position (despite never mentioning the same issues when the Tories were in power) and I'm free to point that out. |

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 09:21 - Mar 24 with 953 views | J2BLUE | Pretty desperate. She's been pretty bad so far IMO but this is just pathetic. A complete distraction from any serious financial issues. Spring statement is coming up. Instead of the media and the people pushing back against financial issues everything is arguing about concert tickets.

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 09:23 - Mar 24 with 950 views | Basuco | Agree with many below, ridiculous fuss about nothing, I received a few freebee's in my lowly role as an engineer, a day driving off road vehicles, small hovercraft racing and outdoor cart racing, many events with free food and drink. I had a track day at Brands Hatch which ended up driving a single seater and a corporate day at a Southampton game for myself, wife and son, and a brewery tour sampling ales. All were was paid for by suppliers and had great fun as well. I wonder if it is the far right supporting press, mail, sun, express pushing the outrage on this, it is not in the same league as giving dodgy PPE contracts to friends and family with the last lot.

That's as maybe, but you still don't have any evidence of me complaining about corporate freebies in the last 14 years of Tory government do you? I know you won't look, but I'll save you the bother anyway... there isn't any. There's probably loads of things I can be got with a "gotcha!" on, but this isn't one of them. I've enjoyed plenty of corporate freebies myself so I'd be an absolute hypocrite complaining about any of them, whatever colour.

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 08:03 - Mar 24 by SuperKieranMcKenna | Sort of agree, but it’s the optics. Many people get entertainment through work, but at the same time they aren’t cutting WFA for people like my grandparents who then had to struggle through winter* It’s more a read the room thing - like the Tories with their classic ‘we’re all in it together during austerity’ whilst claiming thousands of pounds in living costs (on top of generous salaries’. Then they’ll (Labour) wonder why they are portrayed as out of touch with working class people. *and now disability benefits. [Post edited 24 Mar 8:07]

It certainly is optics, and particularly naive politically given the proposed cuts and the stick they got in the summer. But I think it goes deeper than that and reflects a blurring of the distinction between the public and the private. At the office I worked in in Whitehall for nearly 30 years, I never received any sort of freebie. Indeed, we even had to pay for our tea and our Christmas parties. And it was drummed into me as a public servant that I should not receive any sort of benefit outside of my pay and pension. MPs on the left of the Labour Party still stick to this principle, but the impression I get is that most MPs these days don't feel as public servants any sort of obligation not to milk it. The thing is it's been going on for decades, then as soon as Labour are in power people are up in arms about it. I guess there's way less dirt to dig so this is the best they can do, but it's pretty pathetic really.
