So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket 07:53 - Mar 24 with 7329 views | onceablue | Subjecting everyone else to hardship but she gets to go to a free concert in a corporate box that I guess would be in the region of £1,000 for 2 people if not more. And then openly admits she couldn’t pay for them on TV but will declare their value Her PR person must have to permanently carry a shovel round with them It’s like declaring their value makes it Ok There is certain things unfortunately you can’t do when you are in a position like hers. Ask Mike Bassett😂😂😂 Also you wouldn’t need security if you hadn’t upset so many people with your lies

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 10:26 - Mar 24 by The_Flashing_Smile | The thing is it's been going on for decades, then as soon as Labour are in power people are up in arms about it. I guess there's way less dirt to dig so this is the best they can do, but it's pretty pathetic really. |
It is certainly the case that the anti-Labour stories have been relentless, and much worse than I ever thought it would be.

As an avid listener to talk based radio stations I have to agree, however I also have to say that the overwhelming amount of these are from Labour supporters. Most Tories haven't got the brass neck yet.

If you are suggesting she pays her own security costs and the ticket cost then why didn’t you did the same for the Tories?

Exactly, the only reason this stuff is made an issue is the press is now mostly right leaning, Boris had his snout in the trough to levels never seen before, we are not talking free glasses and some tickets here. Donors paid for Boris wedding, holidays, 100k for the poshest wallpaper known to mankind, even tried it on getting chequers as his wedding venue

Oddly enough, I think Starmer's been doing a decent job so far (probably because he's acting like a Blairite Social Democrat) & if there were a General Election tomorrow, I would vote Labour (which I have never done).

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 07:58 - Mar 24 by Lord_Lucan | I don't understand why people get het up about things like this, surely it's a perk of the job. No different to when I might get a box at football courtesy of a customer or supplier. RKD spent half this season in corporate due to work. |
Probably because in opposition they used to complain alot about Tory freeloaders getting freebies all the time and they'd introduce a new better style of government. Plus the fact in most organisations people work in there are no perks like that because HMRC are very strict on the rules about it, the rules the same MPs demanded we have to avoid conflicts of interest, corruption, taxable benefits, but can't be bothered to follow like the proles. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 12:58 - Mar 24 with 1159 views | Dubtractor | Have to say, I'm in the camp of disapproving of this sort of thing. I work in local government and the culture is that you absolutely can't accept freebies. On the rare occasions we can, it has to be related to the day job, eg a free ticket and lunch to an industry specific event. If a contractor offered me a ticket to the football, for instance, I'd have to say no. It's not the same as getting freebies offered if you work in the private sector, as its about the way that public money gets spent. It's the way of the world in the private sector to buy a bit of favour with a few freebies, but the public sector can't have anything that suggests money isn't being spent purely on need/merit. I think it is fair to observe that Labour are being held to a higher standard than the tories were, but that still doesn't make it right.

I agree with the overall thought that it's not right, but when it's been going on for decades it's a bit rich for some to be complaining about it now.

Yeah I think the same - but the hypocrisy from the Tories and their enablers who clapped on such corruption is sickening too.

I would agree. Blair for me is a centre left leaning liberal - and how much he leans left is a matter of opinion. One of my favourite uni books on this is Esping Andersen's three worlds of welfare capitalism, if anyone is generally interested in what type of system we have that's a must read. Again spot on - shouldn’t be allowed across the board anything over £25 in value gifted has to be declared in the NHS, and if you were caught not declaring you would be in big trouble so feels grossly wrong on every level. However it is very rich after Boris, Barnard castle, PPE in the billions to mates to then say excuse me to people not declaring small fry and often with fairly legitimate reasons.

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 08:31 - Mar 24 by onceablue | Certainly not jealous don’t even like Sabrina Carpenter😂 It’s the principal Lord Lucan They came to power on a glorious wave declaring they were going to change the face of politics completely end all the sleaze of the Tory party party of the people etc But when it comes to our own personal gain no no we won’t change that. All political parties are the same and that is the point I am making regardless of what your political allegiances are |
I think that all politicians regardless of rank or party should be careful when accepting freebies. Just because such gifts and hospitality are declared and transparent I don’t think makes things ok. I don’t think that this is an example of sleaze but it could be seen as an example of conflict or corruption - if in the future [for example] Tech firms are given a tax refund and previously they had paid for events for high profile politicians to enjoy, it’s not a good look. I understand that hospitality is a key component for some sectors, but I’m sure that a PM and Chancellor etc can learn about industries etc (and form key relationships) without accepting gifts.
