All you Brexit crybabies 19:51 - Apr 3 with 5468 views | blueasfook | Dry your eyes. Thanks to leaving the EU we are only getting hit with 10% tariffs while the EU will pay 20%. Stick that in your blue Remain y fronts with stars on the front. Manufacturers will be falling over themselves to come to Britain to enjoy lower tariffs. Thanks Boris!

All you Brexit crybabies on 08:14 - Apr 4 by Kievthegreat | Worth noting a few things. 1- Trump hasn't given the UK any preference in anything. He used his formula and so we have to pay 10%, no exception. All the fawning and pleading yielded precisely nothing thus far. 2- Trump is still imposing 25% on cars, our biggest export to America, so our effective rate is higher than 10% 3- if we were in the EU, we'd be part of an effective trade block which could co-ordinate a response. Now our options are either to suck up to the bully or hide and hope he forgets about us. |
Absolutely. Poor old Starmer. Grovelling with his silly Prince Charles invite while Vance slapped him round the face got him nowhere beyond a sore rear end. Nor will it. There’s no real logic to Trump and his henchmen. They are just stupid, ignorant bullies who believe they have some sort of right to take what they want built on perceived but erroneous grievances. They view all but what they believe as strength as nothing. The only different to Hitler is that Trump will leave people to die rather than kill them. His mentality is just as limited as Adolf’s was. They also share the ability to attract toadies and vile lizards that see something in it for themselves. Yes, Trump’s America screwed this country (again). How many warnings does Starmer need? Since we are not in the EU the solution is to align ourselves with them and mirror whatever action they take and start defending Commonwealth countries like Canada in word and trade, even if militarily successive governments including Starmer’s have left us weak. All you Brexit crybabies on 08:12 - Apr 4 by The_Flashing_Smile | Why would anyone think trading with the US (thousands of miles away) would be better than trading with Europe (on our doorstep) anyway? |
Err... because they are our major export partner maybe? United States of America (12.8% of the global total) Netherlands (8.7%) Germany (8.3%) Ireland (7.3%) Switzerland (6.9%) Mainland China (also 6.9%) France (6.1%) Hong Kong (4.7%) Belgium (4.4%) United Arab Emirates (2.4%) Spain (also 2.4%) Italy (2.3%)

Um, Dolly clearly said Europe vs US and by your own data that is 12.8% with the US and 46.4% with European countries (and you've not listed them all). Then again, the whole thread is trolling so not sure why I expected you to be accurate. SB

Err... so your argument about why we should trade with them rather than Europe is because we trade with them more than Europe? And, err, if you add up those countries in Europe they come to much more than 12.8%...

Just because they are by country at the moment doesn’t mean they have to be in the future. Everything changes. There is nothing at the moment to stop us improving trade relationships with Japan, Far East, Canada, Aus, NZ etc. Other countries hit by the lunatic will be looking for trading partners and I see no reason why the interconnected global economy shouldn’t continue without the baleful influence of America. I guarantee that if they achieve isolationism Trump so craves, they’ll be trying to reverse that in a few short years unless they enjoy poverty. In the meantime, we are part of Europe geographically, historically and culturally. Reestablishing and deepening those relationships seems obvious to me. There’s no downside to it. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
