but is he our future or even at the heart of our immediate future? I genuinely don't know.

I think next season may see him begin to be eased out as we hopefully prepare a midfield pairing for the next time we are in the Premier League. The difficulty is getting players who are good enough while in the Championship.

Not impossible but harder certainly

I think he genuinely knows it’s his swan song with us next season , but we need to replace with a younger version or better to be able to rise to the top again ….lets hope that’s already being sorted behind the scenes, I’m sure it is a priority.

I think he will probably still be one of the best players in the champ tbh.

By all accounts he keeps himself in great nick and he won't be playing vs Rice and odegaard next season.

Had a moment today where he shuffled Rice and set Hirst away. Glorious

Great player servant if he starts next season no offence to him we're not going up,

What utter nonsense that is.

Club captain, to start 25 games next season, and feature in the majority of the rest. Is my guess

I think he may well be off for one last big pay day in the Middle East. But, I really hope not. I thought he was solid today and I don’t think we can underestimate the importance of players like him and Chaplin driving standards and setting the tone for everyone else. I wouldn’t imagine he’ll start every game next season but he’s really really important to the club

Given the gulf between the PL and Championship I still believe that he has an important part to play next season. A three game week might be too much to ask of him though.

Bit early to write off 25/26. We have a better chance than most Championship clubs.

Next season? He won't be a starter for us next season. I'd see us take Jobe Bellingham or Hackney for more energy in the midfield.

If by future you mean next season then yes, assuming he wants to be.

I've never seen a player show so much bottle in an Ipswich shirt, from League One to the Championship and now in the Premier League. Even today he sets up our best (only) chance with a drop of the shoulder and a surging run and pass.

He can 100% still do a job for us next season in the Championship, but he will need a runner to partner him. He definitely shouldn't be written off. He's been an incredible servant to the football club.
