Feel for him, ploughed his way through the lower leagues, gets his chance at PL football only to be injured for large part of season and at 30 in Sept the chance to play in the top flight again may be slipping by.

Showed he could compete at this level with his goals and work rate and was a big loss to our season, hope he gets another chance ideally with us in 26-27 after finishing championship top scorer next season.

Yeah, feel for him,..... was hoping hed be 24/25s version if the great Marcus Stewart but hes had no luck at all really , at least he has that 1st goal at City and the Spurs moment but if anyone deserves to have a good season next year its certainly him.

He did get to score an overhead kick at Tottenham's new ground. That's a clip to play and replay.

We’ve missed his aggression and workrate. To be honest with all the injuries we’ve had it’s a miracle we’re not rock bottom.

I think he's a good championship player. Yes, Town have generally looked a more effective team when he's in the side, probably because he does more work off the ball than fans notice. He does have a useful eye for goal; will be interested to see what his best position is next season.

Like Broadhead, he always looks like a second striker to me, so given that McKenna currently likes out and out wide men for left and right of the 10 position, that leaves him battling with Omari. Chaplin etc for the 10 berth. I do not think our formation does him any favours. He tracks back with more determination than the rest of the attacking players and has been missed by us. Whole -hearted sort of character. I hope he gets a lot of game time when we are back in the Championship.

He’s had some memorable moments hopefully he’ll cherish.

But feel for him, as I do for Chappers, Burns, Broady & Mass a bit.

This was always going to be a division too high for Luongo, although he’s not let us down in his limited minutes

I love Sammie and think he'll smash it in the championship again next season and will hopefully score the goals to take us back up..

One of the things I think we have got wrong this season was not playing him in his favoured 10 position, where he was championship top scorer last season.. playing him wide left was a waste and isn't his best position.. yes, his work rate provided better protection for Leif, but we lost that impact from him, just off the striker..

Hopefully he stays. His injury was a double re-occurrence that our physio team didn't pick up and should have prevented him from being ruled out for the season. This is on very good authority by the way from friends that know him in Colchester, he was incredibly angry at our physio staff for ruining what could well be his only ever shot at Premier League football.

Saudi could be an option for him, so we will have to see what happens in the summer. A fully fit and motivated Sammy should bang in goals for us, if he's playing in his preferred position of through the middle.... not out wide.

Play him off Hirst as a 10 and he'll score 15-20 in Championship

What is it with managers generally who, when they have someone like a natural goalscorer, decide to play them wide left, or in any other position other than what they seem to be good at?

No I understand that - and would agree really.

He was so reliable for 2 years, and from a purely sentimental viewpoint I feel for him for not having any real level of involvement.

I always remember Cruyff as coach at Barcelona. Played Lineker on the wing for a while. Utter rubbish there. Probably the best in his era in the 6 yard box but didn’t contribute too much else other than goals, goals, goals as a No. 9

This is the kind of quality gossip I'm here for.
