Trump cannot stand for a third term, BUT..... https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/25/donald-trump-2028-merchandise-on "The shop is also selling T-shirts in navy and red, priced at $36, which read “Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules).”

At the moment he can do as he pleases. Getting rid of judges that get in the way is a good move from his perspective. As for a third term why not? All he has to do is get another amendment passed. Simple if you remove objectors first and terrify the rest. Let’s face it, if the oaf can openly declare time after time that an invaded country Ukraine started the war with Russia and completely trample on 80 years of backing sovereignty rights and conventions, changing a trifle constitutional amendment is easy. Might is right. The new normal in action. If you have it you make the rules.

A formal constituional amendment would be tricky, as it needs a two-thirds majority in Congress and approval from States. Neither of which he can realistically get. On the other hand, who is going to enforce the Constitution if Trump simply ignores it? The greatest saving factor is that he will be 82 by then, in who knows what mental or physical state. Depends whether Vance can hold the cult together.

Hopefully he’ll be in a box. But whether or not he is, isn’t, goes even more off his head, it’s what he does during the coming months that’ll make the difference. Look at what carnage he’s created in just 100 days? Vance? I really don’t know much about him beyond he’s clearly an ignorant, bigoted, unpleasant bully and at the moment, flunkey. Given his previous criticism of the orange one, he clearly has no morals or conscience - just ambition and greed. Whether that’s sufficient or an even more dangerous madman pushes him aside in the succession is open to question. One way or another, the Democrat opposition appears on the outside to be fractured, rudderless and leaderless. Unless the US implodes economically or at the least his lunatic isolation policy really hurts and impoverishes the people, the Republicans will be elected in 2028. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Trump now having Judges arrested on 10:51 - Apr 26 with 811 views | lowhouseblue | we only know what's been reported. did she really obstruct the execution of a lawful warrant - i have no idea, but there will be due process to decide that. but judges can't use non-judicial means - in this case allegedly ushering someone out of a side door to evade the fbi entering the court through the main door - to prevent a warrant issued by another judge from being executed. acting outside of their authority judges are no different from anyone else - judges in the uk have also been arrested and charged. so forcing this into a pre-formed agenda is premature. also, where's the evidence that 'trump had her arrested'? sorry to be pedantic and all that.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

The two-thirds majority required in both House and Senate, and ratification by three-quarters of States, present and obstacle he can't overcome without very large-scale and widespread imprisonment of elected Democrat politicians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_Five_of_the_United_States_Constitution I don't think it is a starter, and also not necessary for him and his supporters. He just needs to pick an heir and big them up. Republican State Legislatures will do a lot of the supporting work in terms of voter suppression.

The other point to make on removing the term limit for Presidents is that if it is lifted then Barack Obama can come back and hand his flabby orange ass to him.

The FBI arrested her the next day 8:30am. They charged her, took her to Federal court where she was released from custody to appear again on May 15th. Trump may not have been aware of any of this but Kash Patel, FBI chief, did exactly what the orange one would have wanted him to do. They know that she will probably get off but that's not the point. The point is that Trump and his minions have shown that they are coming for the Judiciary and they better roll over and do what the orange one says or else.

Trump now having Judges arrested on 14:01 - Apr 27 with 402 views | DJR | Here's evidence of attacks on law firms as a result of executive orders. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Targeting_of_law_firms_and_lawyers_under_the_secon This appears to be having a chilling effect on the legal profession and thus the rule of law, as are the attacks on the judiciary.. "On March 28, 2025, it was announced that the law firm of Skadden had agreed to make a deal with the Trump administration.[27] The Trump administration would not issue an executive order against the firm and in return the firm agreed to provide $100 million in pro bono work "to causes that the President and Skadden both support."[5][27] Trump stated on Truth Social that the firm had also committed to not engage in the future in any "illegal DEI discrimination and preferences".[27] This was the second deal that the Trump administration struck with a law firm to cease targeting it in return for certain assurances, including promises to provide pro bono legal services to the administration, the first of which was with Paul Weiss."
