Was at an RSPB site on the edge of the Peak District near Manchester this weekend (planting a memorial tree for my mother) and saw what I think were Martins. Tails the wrong shape for Swallows and none of the Swift screaming. |  |

On a par 3 I got a 40 footer yesterday. I was on the fringe at the front right of the green, the pin was at the back left. Left to right to start with up the slope, then right to left down the slope. I hit the put with perfect pace in the heart of the hole.

Thanks. I've kept a daily diary of interesting bird sightings for my own benefit for many years but I also put the information to good use by sending my records to the county recorder.

We are in the Algarve and last week we saw a big bird close to where we feed the street cats as I got closer taking photo's he didn't move just turned around and I was able to get within six feet, nine hours later it was still there but one of the street cats saw it and went for it but it just flew away I think it must have been resting after a long flight, anyway it seems it was a Spur-winged goose, it never looked injured and I was just pleased to see it fly off. | | | |

I log all my sightings on the Birda app. Friendly community birding app and handy for help with unidentified sightings. Also started using ebird which is a bit more scientific and serious.
Photographed a pair of golden eagles yesterday morning but couldn't download the pics til the lights came back on in the evening. |  | | |

I saw my first swift of the year this morning (Apr.29th) within a minute of my first cuckoo sighting although I know they've been reported in the county (Wiltshire) for about a week already. I saw three more about 30 minutes later. | | | |
