…that if his surname wasn’t Bellingham nobody would even look at him. Will save that person from the embarrassment though

Anyone would think that young players can get a lot better after regularly playing.

Yeah weird isn’t it…

I’d like to see him here. Big and powerful, something we’ve lacked this season in key areas

It will seamlessly change now to well we couldn't have got him anyway.

Truly impaired.

Or ‘a young championship player wouldn’t have been the right player for a team battling to stay in the PL’…

Sunderland fans seem genuinely surprised by this

Lots of comments on their forum about him being poor in the second half of the season and his surname doing some heavy lifting. A lot seemed surprised he was even in the championship team of the season!

Oh really?
I saw the award and naturally assumed he’d be spot on all season. Will teach me for assuming won’t it

I haven't got a clue what previous posts you are referring to, so cannot comment on what claims were or were not made in the past, but surely what you suggest might be claimed in your comment is a reasonably proposition. A successful player in the Championship is no guarantee of immediate success in the PL - isn't that borne out by some in our own squad this season?

Congratulations to Jobe whatever.

Yeah, thought I'd have a quick look on the Sunderland forum as I've never been that impressed with him

Seems to be pretty mixed feelings about him. Clearly got talent but been on the beach since Jan. One comment said first half of the season he was playing like Jude Bellingham, second half was more Jude Law!

Another poster said he didn't even win their young player of the season award!

To be honest I think that award was all down to his name!

I've seen him a couple of times and he didn't look anything special. I'd rather who we have left from our Championship team.

That surprises me; I didn't think that McAnuff was all that.
