Most confident going into a new season? 16:49 - Apr 30 with 934 viewsNutkins_Return

Obviously sad we've gone down but felt mentally prepared for it and decided just to enjoy this season as best as possible from the start (though that was a bit limited).

But I am feeling really positive about next season. Maybe the most positive in years. Feel about on par with the build up to McKenna's first full L1 campaign.

Just think the club and squad will be really well placed to get us back up again next season. How is everyone else feeling?

(Talking about mentally preparing. Got to accept now we are going to lose players. Didn't stop Leeds, Burnley etc who lost their best players).

Exactly the same. Probably more positive and excited than ever actually, having heard some of the hints from Joe and others as to how ambitious the owners remain, with McKenna and Ashton having really proved themselves in ever-increasingly challenging circumstances over the last three and a half years.

Ins and outs yes, but I feel pretty confident that they'll find the right players to develop over a season in the Championship to give both a great chance of promotion, and a good chance of staying up afterwards.

Good to hear. And what a different feeling it is to the last relegation and what Leicester fans are feeling right now.

This club is still feeling fantastic and long may it continue. Testament to what has been built that bar the odd one there are very few meltdowns.

Optimistic rather than confident - over-confidence would be counterproductive.

We are likely to enter the season as hot-favourites to go straight back up, and potentially favourites to be champions. We would deserve such an assessment, but cannot be complacent. The club is in an excellent place for the future, and for nay players we lose, I fully expect exciting replacements to be incoming.

I'm confident Kieran will not allow such complacency, and will take each game at a time, resulting in a positive outcome to the season with many memorable wins.

Anything less than top six will be a fail but that said need to see how summer transfers work out. There’s a big problem in midfield we need to solve.

We are in so much a better position than we were 24 months ago. And how did that work out ?
I feel positive. Trust KMcK. Trust Ashton.

Agree on the top 6 comment, but if we finish 15/20 points off top 2 I think that would still be seen as a failure (if we lost the POs of course)

What with the money spent this season plus more investment next, I’m going to say that anything but automatic promotion will be failure. Plus, if we’re out of the top 6 by more than a few points at Christmas, KM will be lucky to keep hold of his job.

I didn’t want to say it as I’d be told to get a new hobby.

But i agree

I don’t see how anyone could possibly disagree - our owners seem to be sane and sensible but more importantly realistic. They knew that we would struggle in the PL but in the championship the dynamic is totally different.

We will have money and a good size squad - all those who say that the Championship is a long drawn out slugfest are looking at it through Mick’s eyes. We will have all the advantages next season and so automatic promotion is a realistic expectation.

Confident and so happy with everything about the club right now. BUT, am I the only one who’s also very apprehensive about next season as well? We’ll likely be favourites to go up, how are the players going to handle that? We’ll have the usual melts in the crowd booing if we don’t win a couple of games back to back. There’s going to be a lot of pressure there, I just hope everyone can handle it

I wouldn’t say confident, don’t really like that phraseology - Championship is the most competitive league in the world.

Have to respect the league, respect the teams, and work to our absolute maximum to get out of it.

I’m looking forward to the summer shuffle to settle on a new group to take us on a journey like our L1 heroes.

I’m confident. In all our many seasons as a championship club, we did not have the advantages we do now. Joe Royle did a great job, whilst all around him was falling apart due to administration and selling our best players. Marcus Evan’s took over the club, but had no clue about running it. Eventually he became disillusioned or disinterested and stopped investing. Big Mick McCarthy against all the odds, got us in the playoffs in a great season. Remember Murph’s 27 goals. But when he needed it Marcus failed to invest. Now we have fantastic owners, great infrastructure, parachute money, and hopefully McKenna. It was never better for us in the Championship.

Confident but anxious is my feeling.

We seriously need to get this summer right in terms of additions and disruption/background noise needs to either be minimal or settled quickly.

There will be a different type of pressure next season.

There will be an expectation from outside the club, along with some clowns within the fan base who will just expect us to romp everyone 4-0 each week.

We will suddenly become teams ‘big’ games where everyone finds an extra %.

We will also be on the other side of the financial capacity, where it is with £15m wingers starting, and £15m centre backs, with £15m players coming off the bench - which will be a narrative pushed by media and opposing managers.

Different sort of pressure, KMc will know this, KMc I have no doubt will approach and handle appropriately, it’s how the players will react.
