Is the Leicester game our most valuable of the season? 12:47 - May 5 with 3683 views | Matt_Netherlands | Not as weird as it sounds… Last year Luton received a total merit payment of £8.5m for finishing 18th whereas Burnley got £3m less for finishing 19th - so a different rid £3m for one place in the table. If you factor in other commercial payments it’s a difference of around £5m which even in football terms, isn’t to be sniffed at! https://www.football365.com/news/premier-league-prize-money-table-tv Those figures might not be exactly spot on, but definitely worth doing all we can to finish 18th.

To put that into context, non-parachute clubs in the Championship will only receive approx. £11M in broadcasting fees this season. That £3M could be used to pay for a top class loan signing next season.
I think the game has significance and should be well contested on 14:22 - May 5 with 3271 views | unstableblue | Leicester will be one of of promotion rivals next season*, McKenna and the boys want to finish the season strongly, Leicester will want to give their fans some joy and get them back on side, and as you mention 18th place and significant money is up for grabs. I’m looking forward to it. I do think by then we could be fielding a strong side with injuries and suspensions clearing. *Wonder if the EFL will punish Leicester for their previous financial mismanagement when in the Champ. Retrospectively.

Is the Leicester game our most valuable of the season? on 15:06 - May 5 with 3113 views | textbackup | I know the money matters, but honestly for me it’s more about having some pride/saving face. If we go down 2nd bottom having not beaten the two teams going down with us, I think that’s pretty piss poor if I’m honest.

The EFL have already given a strong indication that they're just waiting for Leicester to be under their jurisdiction to throw the book at them. Leicester are unlikely to be a serious contender for automatic promotion next season, as any points deduction is going to undermine what will likely be another season with a high points tally needs for 2nd.
Is the Leicester game our most valuable of the season? on 18:59 - May 5 with 2573 views | britbiker | I'm still pissed off remembering how they got away with a draw at Portman road. To me that was the start of a bad slide. Who knows what may of happened with a home win and two extra points at that stage in the season. Also the worst set of fans I encountered at Portman road this season. Coming out of the stadium like they had won a cup final singing ' that's why your going down and we're staying up'. They were on a bit of form then as well. How the mighty fall. In the greater scheme of things, the result is of little consequence but would love to still end up above them and give us a minor boost for next season. If Vardy hasn't hit his 200 goals target before then, he will be out to prove a point.

I really hope you're right, as right now the division looks weak next season and Leicester the only top quality opposition. It's got to be earned of course, but the title looks there for the taking.

Why exactly would you expect us to finish higher than a team with plenty of Premier League experience, that also finished above us last year. I don’t really see our relative positions as season defining. It’s pretty obvious that there’s a vast gulf between the promoted teams and the rest of the league and for us to finish a point or so either side of Leicester doesn’t really point to much else. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ok… If we finish 3rd bottom, but fail to beat the two teams we go down with, I’d think that’s pretty piss poor. Better? I’ve not expected anything, but I’d hope that out of 4 games we could win 1 of them. If you are happy with 2 losses and 2 draws, or 1 loss and 3 draws, then fair play. We finished above Southampton last season, so can I be annoyed we’ve not beaten them?

Agree with all that. Our game at Leicester is Vardy's last home game before he leaves, so I expect they'll be right up for it & if he doesn't score this weekend, you just know he'll get no. 200 against us

I was there the other boxing day and they were chanting "Leicester reject" to Hirst when it was clearly a serious injury as well. I do really want to beat them.
Is the Leicester game our most valuable of the season? on 06:13 - May 7 with 828 views | PioneerBlue | The £3 million is very important. Look how hard we had to work to earn that pre PL, not to mention how many signings we made in last 20 years at that level. That said, beating them is important in the context of finishing well this season, it might be a little less relevant for next season because change will happen but it’s still a benchmark for this season. How near or far were we from each other.
