A little bit of me is worried there is no VAR in the Championship 20:54 - May 8 with 1121 viewsMaySixth

- it would sort out terrible terrible ref errors like we've just seen at Bristol City tonight which have enormous implications

Don't think it's clear and obvious. The ball was never there to be won from that position, and he only got a foot to it after having hauled Moore out of the way.

You'd be baying for a red if that was against us.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

It wasn’t a terrible decision at all - it was blatantly the correct decision - penalty and a red card. The ref also disallowed a goal and again, the right decision.

Think the ref has had a good game.

Same.

They'd be a bloody idiot for trying to win the ball from there.

I am delighted there is no VAR in the Championship. It will be lovely to properly celebrate goals once again, rather than worrying they will be disallowed five minutes later.

That was a penalty all day long!

Dont worry about it.

Its all part of football, and always has been.

With no VAR how do you get the ref to make the right decision?
You get in his face that's how.
I don't know if MK has told the players not to argue with refs but we absolutely need to. We should make it very clear that the decision was wrong and this will make him think he owes us a soft free kick.
We need to surround the ref and badger him like Chelsea and Arsenal did this season. None of their players got booked for doing it.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

I'm sure I remember reading some article 6 months or so ago stating that the Championship was thinking of using some cheaper VAR alternative system!

Edit: Found a Talksport article on it.

VAR gave a pen against us for Ensico touching a blokes shoulder! How on earth does anyone think last night’s decision would have been overturned by VAR?

It was a clear penalty and red card!

I understand the concern, but I would say the number of contentious decisions going against us this year even with VAR was pretty much the same as the number when we were in the championship.

I was one calling for VAR at the start but now I wish they just got rid, or replace it with some sort of appeal system where decisions are made by one referee. The idea we need a team of 6-8 referees per game all giving their opinion just makes it farcical.

VAR has killed everything that was enjoyable about football.

I'll be glad to get back to normality next season.

I’d be wondering why my keeper hasn’t come out to tackle from the front, and hope the defender doesnt wrap arms around the striker.

We’ll be good again... one day

Most fans are naturally biased & want every VAR call or debatable decision to go in their favour. We (and others) think there is a "big club bias" within VAR but there isn't - we suffer from it more as a struggling team which is generally under more pressure so we are likely to have more big decisions go against us.
I certainly won't miss iy next season, though.

The pressure on refs is horrible. Last night, pundits as well as Manming were laying into him for the red card. Today, Sky actually posted up the law proving him right, with the footage showing the defender's arms all around the striker. (If he hadn't manhandled the striker, the defender would not have got to the ball at all).

Exactly - the referee applies the laws correctly in a big, pressure game & I assume the Sky pundits wanted him to "show some common sense". Unfortunately, these decisions are often game defining but the wrong decision was made by Dickie in deciding to wrestle Kieffer Moore. How would a Blunts fan have felt if the laws were not applied correctly?
