My understanding is that, these days, they're a little harder to haggle with than they used to be - you certainly can't just ask for a better deal any more.

Best bet will be to call their cancellation line (0333 759 1018) and ask to cancel your subscription, which should trigger the discounting process. Call their bluff if you have to, and agree to start your 30-day notice period. Even if you don't get anything whilst you're on that call, chances are you'll get a call or an email after a few days trying to persuade you to come back.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Tell them you will go to Now TV. They really didn't seem to like that.

I eventually got an offer £8 less than the discounted rate I had been on previously.

My contract came to an end in January, best I was able to do was get them down to the new customer offer for all my packages.

Depends if you were a relatively new customer who got a good deal in the first place of id you have been with them a while and already steadily gone up. I had multiple chats with them and they were super friendly but in the end left for talk talk (very happy with them) as just couldn't get sky to budge on price. Had been with them 18 months and had got a very good deal in the first place so them putting me up a decent chunk was essentially just putting me on par with normal rates. But I just don't watch that much of their TV and stuff so wasn't worth staying for the extra. Father in-law however following exactly same process got about £30 down but he'd been paying well over the odds

They aren't interested if you've currently got Sky Q, as they want to move everyone onto Sky Steam or Sky Glass.

I've just been through the cancellation process and returned their equipment.

Only offered me about £8 off the full price and didn't contact me during the 31 day notice period either.

We went from £110 to £62 a month about 2 weeks ago. We just phoned and said we wanted to leave and this is the deal they found us

How reliable is this option?

Some years ago.............

They offered me a discount but I said "No, I won't budge until you do it for xxx price"

They refused and I sat smugly waiting for their grovelling call.

They didn't call so I bought a Now TV thing whilst I was waiting.

They never called and they treated me like the fool I am when I called them back.

I tried this and didn’t work.

When they got the cancellation/switching notification from Virgin then it was different. Was offered almost £40 less.

They are def playing it harder, you just have to match them. But guess the risk is you may actually have to switch.

Obviously i had the option of virgin. You might not. I did this 2-3 months ago.
