I'm doing this little comedy poem project and have a poem about the naming of HMS ships... that I'd like to perform while walking alongside one/with it in the background. I know there's a few dotted about on the Thames, which would work for these purposes? Needs to be by a quayside/embankment you can walk along with the boat in shot, or perhaps close to a bridge. Any suggestions? |  |

Isn't HMS Belfast the only large one moored in that area?
Occasionally a frigate docks alongside but you wouldn't be able to see it and sometimes some moor out at Greenwich I believe but that's not all the time.

Yes, the view will be obstructed by the jetty Ior whatever it's called) from the south side of the Thames, but a view from London or Tower Bridge or the north side of the Thames might do the trick.
The other option might be to pay to get on the jetty. [Post edited 16 May 2025 8:54]

Just had a look on google maps streetview and it looks like there's decent options along The Queen's Walk where the ship could be in the background, so I think that works. | |

If you’re after something a bit older, try Chatham Dockyard. They’ve got a submarine, a destroyer, and a Victorian Sloop.
Well worth the entry fee.

I'm good thanks Newcy. Yeah looks decent, Chatham Dockyard, but not in London and a bit of a trek. I'm a 6 minute bus and 20 minute train from London Bridge, so Belfast looks a clear winner. | |
