And proceeded to tell you that they have left their homeland and decided to try and have a better life elsewhere and had picked you to do the following and you had no choice

House them at your expense
Feed them at your expense
Provide Clothing at your expense
Provide other life essentials at your expense (too many to mention)
Allow them to bring their own cultures to your house which may be very different from your own

You have to do this indefinitely until they can support themselves which may take years what would you say?

If you said look mate I would love to try and help you but we just haven’t got the space or the money would you think it fair if that person then called you a racist fascist pig?

This is the issue Migration is causing round the World. It is not always anything to do with race or religion but more to do with the finances of it all and how we pay for

If the Government were honest and said look life is really unfair and we need to support the less fortunate in life to come and live in our country so we are going to put the basic rate of tax up by 2p for everyone would this be supported by the general public?

For those of you posters that would say yes I support this please donate a minimum of £400 a year to a charity of your choice to replicate in the meantime.

Is he wanging on about low pay again? The evidence shows that the median pay of immigrants is higher than UK nationals (which makes obvious sense if you actually think about it, as a lot come here on the high skilled visa into decent jobs such as doctors, engineers, management consultants, academics, etc.

The issue is that care workers are not paid enough to live, so we import them, and then pay them benefits to top them up. Rather than insisting that companies pay a fair wage, which in turn would allow us to reduce company taxes...

i'm not cherry picking 2024. as you know i usually quote the four years from 2021 to 2024 when total net migration was some 3 million. the number of people coming to work on health and social care visas is shown at para 54 here:

2023 was the only year when it exceeds 100,000. 2022 it was about 80,000, and in 2021 it was the same as in 2024. so over those 4 years the number of people arriving to work on health and social care visas totalled some 300,000. but that isn't the net immigration of those workers - others will have completed their visas and left in the same period. so the contribution of that visa group to net immigration in the 4 year period is less than 10% of the total.

the numbers you are quoting includes a big rise in dependents - and again the numbers you quote don't allow for others leaving so they don't equate to net immigration (again the 3million figure).

we've done the student visa issue to death. all people who initially arrive on student visas are being counted here. but the rise in net immigration associated with this group is almost entirely explained by people staying on once they have ceased to be students. the net immigration is not primarily the result of more overseas students being in education here, it's lots of ex students getting graduate visas and staying here to do largely low skill work. the graduate visa is not a necessary consequence of overseas students - if it had never been invented the number of students would be the same but net immigration would have been much lower. but you know this. it's a distortion to pretend that the graduate visa is the same as people actually being in education here.

Big assumption in here which is disproved by facts.

You say we have had 300,000 in the last for years, which is an insanely high number and definitely indicates a domestic failing.

"Others will have completed their visas and left in the same period" - Stats demonstrate they haven't left in any significant numbers.

Non-UK nationals as a percentage of the NHS:
2009: 11.9%
2016: 13%
2023: 20.4%

I'm sorry to labour the point and pick at it like this, but you highlighted it and continue to justify it. It is a fallacy to suggest the NHS isn't anything other than an exemplary example of net migration, and the underlying complexities - needs, weaknesses, issues to close the demand side, suppression of domestic wages in relation to housing, and so on.

At 1630GMT we received a call from a search and rescue aircraft, they had sighted small craft heading North towards the Canary Islands.

At the time I was 54m above sea level changing signal lights on the signal mast.

I was radioed and informed that I was needed on the bridge. The radars were started, which were turned off as I was up the signal mast.

After we were given the position of the boats we proceeded at full speed.

Approximately 36 minutes later we were in sight of two small boats. We called Las Palmas Marine Rescue Coordination Centre and informed them of what we had found. They told us that we should escort the boats North to the safety of a Spanish search and rescue vessel.

We were told that if necessary we may be required to rescue the persons on the boats.

As medical Officer I had preparations to make.

- The hospital was prepared
- First aid bag and oxygen was prepared
- Covid precautions for my crew was prepared
- A camera and notepad and pen was prepared.

I’m also in charge of life saving appliances such as life rafts and boats. I then proceeded to prepare

- The rescue boat, including inflatable life jackets for the rescue boat crew
- lifebuoys were stood by
- transponders for search and rescue that show up on the radar.
- Portable VHF radio for the rescue boat crew
- Additional lines that may be needed for towing the craft

After preparing this, I took two of my crew to lock the accommodation down, followed by all other accessible spaces on board.

The place was that we would keep the migrants in one place, we have to ensure the safety of the crew as well as the migrants. We also have to ensure the security of the vessel.

After doing a couple of meal reliefs to ensure other officers had some dinner, I went for some rest. There was nothing more that I could do.

We got the migrant boats to safety, in all there were four boats.

It’s always a joy to refer to this when posts like the OP crop up.

Posts like this disappoint me so much as a human being.
Why have we allowed immigration to be demonised so much. The again, why did we allow Europe to be so demonised. Why do we allow woke to be used as a term of disgust.
Why in 2025 is racism, homophobia, sexism, any form of intolerance being given platforms to spread their hate.
We are failing as human beings.

To answer the OP:

Do you like food? Go for a curry or Chinese or pizza occasionally? Or those strawberries, picked for you by someone? Immigrants say hello.

Do you use the NHS? Your Philippine or Nigerian born nurse might hear your views, but will still do their best to make you better.

I do not know you OP. I do not call you a rascist or a fascist. I grew up in apartheid South Africa. (Born in UK, so you can’t write me off as a bloody immigrant), so I know very well what an intolerance is.
