So what happens at 5.50pm on Sunday….? 19:29 - May 19 with 3900 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Lap of honour? A wave goodbye from certain players? Player of the year trophies?

Will certainly be a bit of a different ending to the last home game of the season the past couple of years.

One thing I hope, is that if certain people (eg Massimo or Burgess) are leaving and/or out of contract, that it’s announced before the weekend so they can have a proper deserved goodbye for everything they have done (albeit not to the extent of the Vardy show yesterday).

He’s it’s been a painful season at times, but I’d be pretty gutted to see a lap of appreciation in front of 10k people like used to happen 4/5 years ago.

We will probably end the season with 22 pts. Pitiful. Nobody should be applauding that.

So what are we to do Blueas?
Flood out at the final whistle?
Stand there in stoney silence?
Turn our backs as the walk past?
Start singing "You're not fit to wear the shirt"?
Make a bed sheet?

It's largely been a season to forget, but it's our team and we should recognise their efforts.

If you don't feel you can, no one is forced to stay.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Will certainly be a test of;-
Follow the Town up or down

This is only the second time this season I've managed to get a ticket for a home game thru the fastest fingers first method, and have only one other home purchase (ballot success)... Wonder how Naaaridge tickets will be sold next season?

why a test ? they dont give you extra points for staying after a game has finished.

Ill stay for maybe 5-10mins extra post match, applaud them off the pitch, see what theyre going to do next, but if its going to be some tedious drawn out thing like in previous seasons, followed by a very slow meander around the pitch.

then no Ill be off down the pub. as much as we've tried our best to compete, ultimately weve still been relegated, and that isnt really something to celebrate, especially gone 6pm on a Sunday

They won't be following you.
Give it a rest!

Didn’t ask anyone to follow.

A question was asked so I gave an answer.

We’ll be good again... one day

I'm going to stay and see the players off, wait for a lap if honour, say goodbye to the season ticket holders next to me, then have a break for the summer. I'm only speaking for me, but I need a break from football, full stop, for a few weeks.
I also reserve the right to sing loudly for Massimo Luongo, one of my all-time favourites.

I don't mind people leaving early, I'm not going to judge. However if you're leaving early, then kindly make your way quietly to the exit, rather than standing in the aisles blocking people's views, whilst antagonising other fans with daft comments.
Sorry, but there's a bloke near me does it regularly and he thinks he's funny; he's not.

It feels like the end of The Great Trilogy. This season has been largely awful but it has to feature in The Great Trilogy otherwise the first two parts don't mean as much. I shall be staying to recognise that incredible journey.

Next season, as people have said since Sunday, there will be expectation and pressure on results and the dynamic will be different.

I like this analogy. It's actually quite comforting, viewing it as a trilogy, drawing a line under it,behaving a break and then starting afresh next season. 👍

I hope we go through our complete rendition if songs and give em a real good send off into the summer. It may even make one or two if them who might be considering moving on, to stay. I'll be dinging my head off in the SBR lower.

C'marn you Blues....

Here's my take on this, for what it's worth....

Did the team, down tools and quit at any point this season, even when being summarily outclassed? No.

I use the term carefully, because few of our games have involved being totally beaten, we've been very close a number of times and any other day, we could have had 9 - 12 points more this season and it'd be a close but not close enough type scenario.

On paper, it looks pretty terrible, but one thing a majority of Ipswich fans have is perspective and ability to look at context of what's happened.

Have there been mistakes? Absolutely and I suspect behind closed doors, even McKenna will know that, but he's young, studious and ambitious, he'll reflect and learn.

The ground has been pragmatic, sometimes a little self deprecating, but that's not been too bad either, we are where we are and I appreciate the team effort, regardless of falling short.

Think of your kid playing sport, if they fail, you don't moan at them and tell them they're s**t ? (if you do, you suck as a parent - big difference between that and an honest conversation btw)

No, you tell them to keep working hard and do their best and if they lose doing their best, which I think has happened this season, then there's actually nothing wrong with that.

This team is a long way from the downed tools era of Roy Keane where the team had nothing about them, no desire (perhaps disingenuous to a few players....but it's a team sport).

I'll clap, happy with their efforts, disappointed with the outcome, as is the same for the players.

We go again.

Winners never quit and quitters never win.
