In this case the investigation and arrests would have been under whatever structures the Tories put in place, so he’s got a point.
They certainly weren’t on the ball though. Not least because of taking us out of the EU and thus the Dublin Regulation meaning we lost the option to return asylum seekers back into EU countries where they first claimed asylum. That’s a huge number (about half of them) and why some genius came up with the idea for the illegal Rwanda plan, wasting about £700M of tax payers money.

The majority of those who continually call out ‘stop the boats’ are referring to people trafficking across the English Channel, they have no interest in what happens in the Mediterranean.
Not sure this should ever have been investigated here, Italy should have sort our assistance in putting a case together and then sort extradition.
The annoying aspect, as far as I am concerned , the failure, under Tory administration, not to have simple deported him back to Egypt. His asylum application should have been rejected once his criminal record was known. |  |

It's pretty sad, if true, that people have no interest in people dying in small boats in ANY sea. And many of them were headed to the UK anyway, so I'm not sure the whys and the wherefores are all that important. People want to stop all illegal immigration, don't they? I'm not sure what sea it is has any relevance (other than media headlines).

Yeah, sure. Had his claim been processed quickly we could have prevented his offending in the first place. Agreed there. The backlogs were getting silly (as were backlogs in the judiciary, NHS waiting lists, etc. - another Tory forte along with pudding money up the wall (or siphoning it to mates and family).
