Good to see someone else go up but the league will be a lot harder with Sheffield United in it.

Brum, Wrexham..... Next season gonna be fookun hard

We should still go up. Not arrogance, but considering the argument for most of the season that the financial difference was key then surely that should count for next season too.

Leicester and Southampton are not settled, with the former possibly facing a points deduction. Sheffield United may struggle to keep hold of Souza and Hamer.

From a selfish point of view I would have preferred United to win. But it doesn't really change expectations for next year.

Still feel Leicester and Saints will be stronger than us. Wrexham will just have an aura and momentum. A tough place to go.

Although results have said otherwise, I'd say our performances have been better this season against Leicester and Southampton than last year. And Wrexham are climbing upwards off the back of a triple promotion.

We should finish in the autos. Anything else, considering the financial advantage and relative stability will be a failure. If we lose more players than I expect and/or McKenna goes I'll revise that judgement.

Blunts didn’t look anything special to me to be honest. Souza a decent midfielder but there’s not many players you’d take from there side in ours.

Feels more in the balance now to me. Sheff Utd's parachute payments reduce by about £10m? They know how to reach 90 points in this league.

Leicester to finally get a big deduction? If not, they're no strangers to 90 points. Southampton will have the tools to do it. We'll know in two or three months whether Wrexham or Brum or both have managed to bridge the parachute gap through their respective financial creativity.

Don't mean to sound negative, just not sure I make us obvious 1st or 2nd favourite. *I wouldn't want to swap with anyone either.

It's not ideal. They're a bit of an odd rag-tag of players on paper but there's quality and a fair bit of knowhow. Really didn't end the season very well though. Hopefully doesn't end up being a Leeds-type situation.

Not seen anything of them apart from today.

Observations on that basis:
They have some quality individuals, but they don't have a fluid and adaptable style of play like us under McKenna at that level. They're not a 'modern'-looking team that can pull an opponent out of shape with intelligent and multi-dimensional football.

(I appreciate limited info to base all of that on.)

Hasn’t the chap that scored the winner already signed for Brighton as well?

As it's worked out he'd probably have been better off staying at Sunderland for another season - he would have got more gametime

They're a physically strong side. The sort we tend to fair badly against. This is definitely the worst outcome that could have happened to day for us going into next season. Its not going to be a walk in the park. We'd better hit the ground running from the start.

Wrexham will not be a threat to a parachute club.

Leeds would have thought the same about us at the start of last season

Maybe but we hadn’t come from non league. Look at the transfer window we had in January 2023, still think we were probably the best league 1 side of all time the second half of that promotion season. Wrexham have some good experienced savvy players that have got them up but not sure they were near our levels when we got out of that league.

Agree but I think it might be worse for them than that though, they are no way near as good as the three that went up last year squad wise. They got some decent young players though, will see how they spend.

They may take Jack Clarke back from us.

We were a completely different level. Won 13 out of 14 games to get promotion conceding 2 goals.

Yup, people who expect Wrexham & Birmingham to be what we were in 23/24 are doing us a massive disservice.

Souza I actually think would be better for us.

Absolute wrecking ball in midfield but also very mobile. Expect he be playing in a first division somewhere though.

Didn't Fulham want him at some point?

I don't see Wrexham competing for playoffs but Brum will surely be in the mix, they are going to be backed with big money
